Today is Alyssa's one month sonogram. I'm so excited that I am her doctor!

"Okay this will feel warm." I tell her before putting the gel on her already very swollen stomach.

"I thought the gel was cold?" She asks.

"We've upgraded."

She laughs and Justin grabs her hand as I roll the wand over her stomach.

I turn to the screen. Oh. My. God. There's not just one baby in there.

"What? What's wrong?" Alyssa asks frantically.

"Nothing. Nothing is wrong, I don't think."

There's one. Two. Three. "You seem to have. Three. No wait! Oh. My. God."

Four. Five. Six.

"What?!" She asks.

"You have sextuplets."

"WHAT?" Justin screeches.

"There's six fetuses."

"You're serious?!"

I turn on the heart beat monitor. Multiple heart beats come through the speakers.

"Oh. My. God. Six children!" Alyssa starts hyperventilating.

"Calm down. It's going to be okay." I tell her still studying the screen.

"How am I going to raise six children at once?! Oh my god my stomach! I'm going to be huge! I can't do this. I can't do this! I'm going to get really fat!"

"Alyssa. Calm down. This is not good for the fetuses. They are already going to be in distress because of how small you are. You don't need to add more to that. We need them to stay in as long as possible." I print out a picture of the sonogram and wipe the gel off of her stomach.

"We'll figure it out Alyssa. We've got the room. We can hire a nanny, have your mother move in for a little while. It'll be okay." Justin tells her.

"Okay, okay." She calms down a little bit.

"Here's the picture. See, one, two, three, four, five, six." I point.

"I haven't told my family about the pregnancy yet, because of the high miscarriage rate." She says.

"Well, I wonder how excited Boston will be, an even higher rate of a boy cousin!" Justin jokes.

Alyssa laughs and takes a deep breath. "I've got to get to work." She says standing up.

"You know after a month or two you'll have to stop." I tell her.

"Yeah, I kinda figured." She kisses Justin goodbye and leaves.

"I'm going to be a father of not one child, but six. Six! I'm not going to be a good father! I figured if we had one then Alyssa would tell me what to do. Now that there's six, she won't have time to teach me, we'll both be working our asses off! Oh no. Oh no. I can't do this! There's too many!" Justin bursts out, as soon as Alyssa leaves.

"Hey! Calm down. You'll be a great father! Don't you ever say you won't be." He lets his head hang low. "Hey," I grab his shoulders, "You can do this. I know you can. You'll both get through this together."

"O-okay. I've got to get to work. I'm sorry. Would you not tell Alyssa about this?" I nod my head in agreement.

He rushes out the door, and I'm left in the room alone.

Well, that was interesting.
