After hours

Chapter 39

"Well?" I ask excitedly.

"Nope," Alyssa sighs and sinks in on the couch.

"Seriously?"

"Seriously."

Well it has officially been ten months and she hasn't gotten pregnant. We've tried the injections twice a week and still not working.

"Oh! What if I prescribe you the fertility pills?"

"Aren't those for people who want like fourteen children at once?"

"Well, if you take a bunch of them yes."

"Whatever, I'll try anything." I sign a prescription and tell her to start them immediately.

On the way home from work I keep thinking and feeling guilty that all of her sisters have children and she doesn't. It has to happen.

"Hey, I'm home." I call through the door.

Jacob and I try to work opposite shifts so we can spend more time with the girls.

"Mommy!" Nikki runs and grabs my legs.

"Hi! What did you guys do today?"

"Me, daddy and Scar had ice cream!" She tells me in her gibberish talk.

"Really?! Before dinner?"

"Mmhmm," she laughs.

"Nikki, you weren't supposed to tell mommy that." Jacob whispers, but loud enough to where I can hear.

She bursts out into high pitched giggles, "oops," then runs away.

"Hello, my lovely wife. How was your day at work?" Jacob asks.

"Are you trying to change the subject by complimenting me?"

"Maybe," he says and wraps his arms around my waist. I reach up on my toes to kiss him.

"I'm going to go cook dinner for myself since you guys had ice cream." I inform him, pulling away.

He chuckles,"No, but really, how was work?"

"It was good. Nothing stressful, well except Alyssa."

"Still not pregnant?"

"Nope."

I make myself a sandwich and go take a shower, when I come out they are watching Cinderella on the couch.

"You started Cinderella without me?" I fake being upset.

"Sorry mommy, but we couldn't wait." Scarlett says, and then crawls into my lap. Nikki is laying on the floor, half asleep.

I lean on Jacob, feeling tired myself. "Am I going to have to carry you to bed too?" He asks.

"If you wanna." I smirk.

As the movie ends we pick up the sleeping girls as take them to their rooms. I start walking toward our bedroom, when Jacob scoops me up from behind.

"What are you doing?"

"Carry you to bed. Like you said. I want too." I laugh and kiss him. "Hey now, watch it. You keeping doing that and we won't be just sleeping."

"I took the damn pills Evi! Nothing is working!" Alyssa screams into the phone.
