After hours

Chapter 34

Day 1

"Okay, so today in between shifts we need to go and get your dress. That will be the first thing off of this list." I tell Alyssa, flipping through all of the things we have to do.

"Okay, we get off at three and don't have to be back until five thirty?"

"Perfect." I flip my notepad closed and go to do rounds.

The times goes by fast, I don't have any surgeries scheduled. Just checking in on patients, and teaching some new interns.

At three exactly Alyssa and I are walking out of the hospital.

Usually we stay in between shifts and study past patient cases.

We go to this little antique bridal store, that I love.

"Hi, my name is Alyssa and this is my maid of honor Evi. We are here to shop for my wedding dress today." Alyssa tells the store clerk.

"Okay, do you have a budget?"

"Um, no." My eyes go wide.

"Justin gave me his card and said to buy what i liked." She shrugged.

I roll my eyes at her.

"Now, do you have a specific style?"

"I was thinking something tight with a low back?"

"Okay I know just what you're talking about. Go to changing room four and I'll be there with some dresses."

She goes into the changing rooms and I wait outside.

The first dress she comes out in I can tell she hates.

"Absolutely not. This is horrid." She takes one glimpse in the mirror and runs back to the room.

The second dress I love, but of course she hates.

The third she loves, but I hate.

"There's one more I think you'll both love."

She comes out of the room in a lace, spaghetti strap, mermaid fit gown. She turns around and the entire back is cut out. It's beautiful.

"I love it!" I say.

"Me too!"

"So this is the one?"

"Yes. How much is it?"

"$8,367"

"Okay well we just won't mention the cost to Justin." She shrugs.

"He's the CEO, I'm sure it's okay." I laugh.

Day 2

Today is Saturday. Both of our days off. Me, Alyssa and Justin get together at my house to discuss the ceremony.

"Okay, do you have any locations in mind? Are you wanting a big ceremony? Do you have any reception ideas? Who are your bridesmaids and groomsmen? Who is your best man?"
