Why is it that most of the time you have to go through a rough, narrow, and stiff road to be happy, while a wide, smooth, and clear path, seemingly waiting for you, only leads to sadness? Why is it so complicated? It is so tiring that it leads you to question yourself: Can you still handle it? Are you willing to take the risk? Is it worth it? Life is hard, but perhaps that is what makes life worth living. Your struggles will bring you joy once you succeed.
"No!"
"No!"
For the nth time, these were the words coming from Freen and Becky's mouths. They were both caught off guard by what had to be done to capture Mike. "Do we really have to do this? I mean, I get the idea, but will Mike fall for it? I've told him a thousand times that Freen is the love of my life!" Becky explained. (We have to arrest Mike before Freen kills me out of jealousy. My Lord, I am so afraid for my life now. If only looks could kill, Charlotte would definitely be fighting for her life now. Look at how expressive my lover's eyes are. Her eyes are so beautiful; they can deprive you of breath because of their captivating gaze, or kill you with their intensity. Either way, if it's Freen, I am happy to accept my fate.) Becky thought to herself. She looked hypnotized.
..........
"I've had enough! This is ridiculous. It's been five weeks, and yet they haven't caught the guy! Will they be able to catch him before I lose my girlfriend? Fu....." Freen screamed, voicing out profanity. She was all alone inside Becky's room. She had informed her family that she would stay with Becky for a month for a private reason. Her family understood and respected her decision without asking further questions, as long as she kept them updated. What was even sadder was that there was no one she could vent to because everything had to be a secret.
Freen sat at the edge of the bed. She'd been waiting for Becky, who was out with Charlotte. They had to go to dinner together as part of the operation plan; they wanted Mike to think Becky was cheating. Freen understood that these things had to be done, but she couldn't help but get jealous and feel neglected. She massaged her temples, then her chest. She felt suffocated. There was only one person in mind who would be able to help her, so she dialed the phone.
Ring...
Ring...
Ring...
"Hello, babe? I am still with Charlotte. We're about to enter the restaurant parking space. I told you about this morning, right?"
"Yes, you have, but why are you whispering?" Freen found it odd. "You're being too discreet. No one's going to hear you, unless you don't want Charlotte to hear that you're talking to me." Freen felt hurt and nearing her final tether, but she still said it in a calm way. She didn't want to fight with Becky, especially on the phone, not seeing her reactions.
"Babe..."
"Stop."
"Please!"
Then the call ended.
Three words spoken by Becky. Three words that brought tears to Freen's eyes. The situation had been hard for both of them. There were times that it caused misunderstanding and that they almost fought, but at the end of the day, they made sure that everything was settled and that their love for each other was still there. But was it still the same case now?
"Are you tired of me now? I know I've sulked these past few days, but is that enough reason for you to change? Did you fall out of love already?" Freen just kept looking at her phone. She dialed the number again, but it was now unattended. She cried her heart out. She threw her phone on the pillow.
