Missing you

The time has come. They look at each other, waiting for anyone who will break the trance and make the first move. Freen is afraid and excited at the same time. She is terrified, knowing they will let a stranger into their house and into her own personal space at the same time. She is also excited about whether she will have a new friend or an enemy. Freen hopes it is not the latter. Heng breaks their trance and questions the three of them.

"Did I miss something because someone is ringing our doorbell and no one wants to check it?" Heng patted Freen's back and put his left arm around Freen's shoulder. "Are we expecting guests?" Heng is curious to see who is on the other side of the door. "Let me open it and see for myself. Guys, you're creeping me out. Why are all of you seemingly tense? Is it cops? Are we in trouble?" Heng looks at his father, demanding an answer.

Mike just scoffs. "Son, you're watching so much media that it is getting to your brain." Mike's laugh echoes around the house. "I guess it is Freen's private nurse. Heng, can you get to the door, please? Before Heng gets to move, Mike stops him. "Never mind, I'll open it; she must be expecting to see me first because I am her direct employer." He goes to the door and holds the knob with trembling hands. He can't help but feel nervous, and when he finally opens the door, his ears aren't ready for the loud noise made by the person in front of him.

"Uncle, how are you? It's been so long," Nam said with enthusiasm. Nam is one of Freen's childhood friends. They are so close that they're always mistaken for siblings. They have other close friends, namely Irin, Mind, Noey, and Becky. "Where is sleeping beauty? I miss sleepy head." Nam let herself in after hugging Mike and then Mary afterwards. "There you are, my cute little marshmallow; how are you? I miss you so much."

Freen was engulfed by a big, tight hug, and to say she lost her breath is an understatement. "Nice to see you too, Nam. It's only been one and a half weeks since we hung out with each other. I can't breathe." Freen catches her breath after Nam lets her go.

"Oops, sorry about that." Nam grins and looks to Heng, who is lightly punching his chest.

"Ouch, Nam. You are aware that you have an iron fist". Heng rubs his chest, faking that he's hurt.

"Nam, how is your vacation in New York? " Freen interrupts. "Have you finally met your prince? " Freen is ecstatic to hear Nam's stories because she knows that her friend has planned it for a long time. She is supposed to come with her, but unfortunately, an accident happens.

"Nah, I think he is still on a quest, but let's not dwell on the fact that I'm still young. Our paths may cross sooner than we expected." Nam giggles, feeling like a teenager once again. Freen joins her while Heng just snorts.

"I'll leave the two of you with your imagination. I have to go to the clinic. Saint texted me that I have a patient waiting for me". Heng waves his hand and approaches his parents. Bye, mom and pop. I'll see you later. If I were you, mom, I would take Pop on a date. You both know how loud and wild they can get when they are together. I also do know that if Nam is here, the other musketeers will come too".

Mary raises her eyebrow, amused by Heng's comment. "Oh no, Mike, I hope we can still recognize our home when we get back". Mike nods, agreeing with his wife.

Freen is preoccupied by the presence of Nam. It seems they have their own world. "So Nam, are they coming?" Freen asked, excited about the upcoming reunion with her close friends.

They always spend time with each other, especially now that Freen is blind. They want to make her feel that she is not alone and that she has them as her second family. They have experienced a lot together, and through thick and thin, their friendship stands. Even at their friendships' lowest point, when Becky left after her senior years. They cried with Freen since Becky is her best friend. She cares for her so much that most of the time, their friendships are questioned by people around them. Freen wonders where Becky is right now. She has never heard anything from her since she went away.

Freen, they are here! "Nam runs to the door when she hears the doorbell. Freen uses her cane to make her body more stable and balanced because she knows her friends will dive for a group hug that can make her stumble. It's like bracing herself for impact. Seconds later, she hears squeals and stomping.

"Freen" Nam called. "Irin, Noey, and Mind are here."

"Hi guys, I haven't seen you for awhile, literally." Freen laughs at her joke, but nobody laughs with her. "Guys, it's okay. I'm okay."

"Okay, enough of that. Let's do a group hug. Go, go, go!" Noey claps her hand.

"Is that really you, Noey? Are you being possessed by Nam? Nam, what have you done to Noey?" Irin cries, teasing both Nam and Noey.

"Shut up, hold your horses, girls," Mind interrupts as soon as Nam launches on Irin. Freen only giggles when she hears the chaos her friends are creating. She missed them a lot. Especially a girl named Becky, who has no idea where she is now.

Nam noticed Freen being silent. She made a hush gesture with her finger, then encouraged everyone to hug Freen tightly. Freen was surprised and laughed loudly. "Guys, I appreciate the love, but I still need air to breathe." Everyone lets go and laughs.

"Who wants pizza". Noey exclaims as Freen's parents appear from the stairs.

"We will leave the house to you children. Make sure not to break anything". Mary teases and laughs. "Mike and I will just go to the mall. Have fun, adult kids. Take care of Freen for us. I love you, baby". Mary kisses Freen's cheeks and waves goodbye with Mike.
