I sighed as our shifts finally ended and Lily climbed into the back of our car. I knew that Ethan needed a revision buddy. It seemed to really help him to have someone to discuss things with. I just wish it wasn't Lily, she was too obnoxious for my liking.

We'd finally told everyone at work about my pregnancy. Everyone seemed excited for us, even Robyn, the only one that didn't was Caleb. He'd avoided us for the rest of the day until eventually he'd left with Andrea. Both Ethan and I were surprised that he'd chosen to date someone like her, but I decided not to dwell on it.

Eventually we made it home. I quickly walked indoors, trying to avoid Lily.

"We're just going to study in the lounge for a while." Ethan told me.

"Cool, I'll make something for dinner." I said.

He smiled at me and left the room. I sighed and began chopping vegetables. I couldn't help but feel a little excluded as I heard them chatting together. But I knew that it was a necessary evil.

I frowned as I heard a knock at the door. I quickly washed my hands and walked along the hall. I opened the door and frowned as I stood face to face with Susan.

"Hi." I frowned.

"Hello, I was in the area so I thought I'd pop in and visit." she smiled.

"How did you know where I live?" I asked suspiciously.

"Caleb told me." she smiled.

"Why would he do that?" I frowned.

She shrugged and watched me closely.
"Can I come in?" she asked sweetly.

"Sure." I said quietly as I stepped back to allow her to pass.

"I brought food for you and Ethan." she said happily as she walked towards the kitchen.

"You didn't have to do that." I said as I followed her.

I knew she was trying to be sweet but I couldn't help but feel that she was taking over. I'd been in the middle of making Ethan a stew and here she was with a takeaway. As much as I appreciated the gesture, I felt redundant. This was my house and Ethan was my husband. I couldn't help feeling protective.

"Congratulations on the baby by the way." she said as she took plates out of the cupboard and began to dish up the food.

"Did Cal tell you about that too?" I said sarcastically.

"No, but news travels fast." she smiled.

"Do you have company already?" she frowned as she heard Lily speaking in the lounge.

"Yeah Lily's here to help Ethan revise." I stated.

She glanced at me and raised her eyebrows.

"I'm going to change quickly before dinner." I told her as I quickly walked away.

Ethan's POV

I glanced up as a movement caught my eye. I gasped in shock as I saw Susan standing in the doorway.

"When did you get here?!" I exclaimed.

"A little while ago, Emma let me in." she said sweetly.

"Where is she now?" I frowned.

"Upstairs, she's gone to get changed." she replied.

It became awkward as we both watched each other.

"I just came in to ask if you're ready to eat?" she said eventually.

"Has Emma finished cooking already?" I asked.

"No but it saves her having to cook." she smiled.

"You know what with her being pregnant she shouldn't be taking care of you, it's your job to look after her." she lectured me.

"She hates being looked after, she likes to be independent." I pointed out.

"I don't believe that for a moment, everyone loves to be taken care of." she replied.

I stared at her, unsure of what to say. Who was this woman and what gave her the right to lecture me?

"You should always make sure you give your lady enough attention, otherwise you'll lose them." she told me.

"I left my last husband because he wasn't interested in me." she added.

"What a lovely story." I said sarcastically.

I quickly walked over to Emma as I saw her walk downstairs.

"What is she doing here?" I whispered in her ear.

"I don't know she turned up and brought food." she answered.

"Do you want me to ask her to leave?" I sighed.

"We can't do that, she's brought some food for us." she pointed out.

"We should probably eat." she added.

I sighed and followed her to the lounge.
