Monday morning arrived and once again we were back at work. To be honest I was grateful for the distraction. The weekend had been really quiet - I'd pretty much spent the whole time in the bedroom, hiding from the world. I knew Ethan was worried about me which made me love him more.

As I sat eating my lunch I glanced at the clock, I couldn't stand waiting for the post mortem results. I needed to know what happened to her. Maybe then I would be able to find some closure.

I glanced up at Ethan as he sat opposite me. He smiled and slid a chocolate bar along the table towards me.

"Thanks." I said, smiling slightly.

"Thought it might cheer you up a bit." he stated.

"What would I do without you." I sighed.

"God knows." he teased.

I threw the chocolate bar at him and laughed as it bounced off his nose.

I jumped as the staff room door opened and the police walked in.

"Is there news?" I asked them.

"We need to bring you in for questioning." they stated.

"Me?!" I exclaimed.

"No Dr Hardy." they explained.

"But I haven't done anything." he protested.

"We need to determine exactly what happened, and to do that we need to question you." they told him.

"But I was at home with Emma when Susan died." Ethan frowned.

"She died from a Codeine overdose and as the doctor that treated her you're our primary suspect." they replied.

Ethan turned to me, a look of panic and terror on his face. My heart had dropped into the pit of my stomach. He'd never do anything to hurt anyone, least of all my family. He wouldn't want to inflict any hurt on me. Unless he thought that he was protecting me....

"If you don't come to the station with us, we'll have to arrest you." they stated, interrupting my thoughts.

I watched Ethan as he silently put on his jacket. I quickly walked into his arms.

"Don't go." I pleaded.

"I have too, but I'll be back soon." he whispered in my ear.

"I don't want to be without you." I whispered.

"I have to go." he sighed.

I sighed and let go of him. I followed as the police led him out of the staff room. As we reached reception I felt everyone's eyes on us.

"Cal!" I called as I saw him.

"What have you done now Nibbles?" he asked as Ethan walked past.

"Nothing." he called back.

"Cal, you have to do something." I begged him as I began to panic.

"There's nothing I can do." he replied.

I watched as Ethan left the hospital and climbed into the back of the police car. It finally hit me that he was being taken from me when I needed him the most. The thought of being alone scared me. What if he was convicted and went to jail? I'd be alone forever.

I glanced at Caleb as he stood next to me.

"Are you okay?" he asked as he glanced at my shaking hands.

I shook my head slowly. He sighed and pulled me into his arms.

"We have to help him Cal." I whispered.
