Emma's POV

I eventually let go of Caleb and looked around numbly. I couldn't quite believe what had just happened. Ethan would never hurt anyone, so why was he the prime suspect? I'd just lost my Mum and needed him to support me. What if he was found guilty and never walked free again? I sat heavily on a chair in reception and stared at the floor. I glanced at Caleb as he sat next to me.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Of course not!" I snapped.

"I'm just trying to help." he sighed.

"Really?!" I exclaimed.

"You haven't spoken to me in weeks." I added.

"I'm sorry about that." he said quietly.
"Save it!" I said bluntly as I quickly stood up and walked away.

I looked up as I almost walked into Connie.

"Nurse Hardy, I'm giving you the afternoon off." she stated.

"I'm fine, to be honest I could do with the distraction." I admitted.

"You're clearly in shock, we need to find someone to take you home." she said.

"I'm fine." I insisted.

"I insist." she said sternly.

"I can take her home." Cal offered.

"No thanks." I snapped.

Connie frowned and looked between the two of us.

I picked up my jacket and sighed.

"You shouldn't really be driving." Connie called.

"I'll take it slowly." I called back.

As much as I appreciated Caleb offering to take me home, I didn't want to be around him right now. He'd wanted nothing to do with me and Ethan for weeks and now on his terms I was supposed to welcome him back with open arms.

As I pulled over into a lay by and sat silently, I allowed the tears to flow. I couldn't deny that it would be nice to have his support. I'd never felt so alone, and maybe Caleb was the only one that could fix that.

Eventually after about three hours I finally made it home. The house was so quiet without Ethan. I quickly changed out of my uniform and put on one of Ethan's shirts. I felt comforted by the fact that it smelt of him. We were rarely apart, we even worked together. I didn't know what to do with myself when he wasn't around.

I jumped as I heard a knock at the door. I quickly walked downstairs and opened the door.

"Cal!" I exclaimed.

"Hey." he grinned.

"What's with the bag?" I asked when I noticed him carrying it.

"I'm moving in to take care of you." he stated.

"Oh really?" I frowned.

"Yep." he grinned.

"I don't need looking after." I stated.

"Well you're alone now and you're pregnant, you've just lost your Mum and now you have this stuff with Ethan so I thought you might need some support and company." he stated.

"But what about your girlfriend?" I asked.

"Andrea was just a fling that ended ages ago." he told me.

I sighed and looked at him. Even though I was still angry with him, I couldn't deny that I was longing for some company.

"This way then." I sighed as I gestured for him to come in.
