The day that I'd been dreading had finally arrived. I sighed and slowly climbed into my black dress. I frowned at my evident bump, I couldn't wait to have my figure back again.

"We'd better head off." Caleb called from downstairs.

I sighed and made my way downstairs. It seemed strange to be going to a funeral of someone that I hardly knew. Yet I knew that I needed to go. I had to say goodbye.

I sat in silence as Caleb drove to the service.

"You look nice." he told me, trying to break the silence.

"I don't, I look fat." I sighed.

"You look pregnant, there's a difference." he grinned.

"Cal what am I going to do if Ethan never comes out?" I blurted.

"I don't think that will happen, they'll just talk to him about some stuff and then he'll be released." he stated.

"Unless of course he actually did it." he added.

"Caleb!" I exclaimed.

"Just saying." he shrugged.

"Well don't." I said sternly.

He sighed and remained silent. Eventually we arrived and I slowly climbed out of the car.

"Wow there's a lot of people here." Caleb said as he looked around.

"And I don't know any of them." I said nervously.

He took my hand and squeezed it gently.

I sat with Caleb throughout the service. I couldn't believe how many people were there. It suddenly dawned on me that I didn't even know which of them, if any, were my relatives.

I glanced at Caleb as a man approached us, I smiled at him but he glared back.

"Who are you?" he asked bluntly.

"My name is Emma." I said quietly.

"Oh my god." he whispered as he stared at me.

I frowned at him as he watched me closely.

"Why do you want to know?" Caleb piped up.

"I just wondered why the two of you were here, but I guess I know now." he stated.

"But we don't know who you are." Caleb said rudely.

"I'm Andrew, Susan's husband." he said dismissively.

I gasped as I looked at the man I now knew to be my stepfather. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Something about him made me nervous as he stood and glared at us. I couldn't help remembering what Stuart had said. This man was part of the reason that I had been raised in care. I felt Caleb watching me closely as I stood in silence.

"So I guess she found you then." he said quietly.

I nodded slowly. He shook his head slowly and walked away.

"He's a creep." Caleb said quietly as Andrew walked away.

I sighed and nodded.
