I tried to keep calm as I heard Caleb running upstairs.
"They can't have, you're only six months gone." he said as he burst into the room.
"I'm well aware of that!" I snapped.
"We need to do something Cal!" I said, beginning to panic.
"Okay I'll take you to Holby." he said quietly.
I glanced at him and saw that the colour had completely drained from his face.
"Will they be able to do something?!" I exclaimed.
"I don't know much about it, but they might be able too." he said quietly.
"What do you mean you don't know, you're a doctor!" I cried.
"Yes I'm a doctor, not a midwife." he stated.
I glared at him.
"Do you need help or can you stand?" he asked.
"I can do it." I told him.
I stood up slowly and staggered slightly as another spasm hit me. Caleb placed his hand on my elbow and gently steadied me.
"We need to go now!" he said nervously.
He quickly helped me downstairs and into the car. I glanced at him as he stamped on the accelerator.
"What will happen if she's three months early?" I asked him nervously.
He sighed and ignored me.
"Cal!" I insisted.
"It depends on how she's doing, but she could be born with some abnormalities." he said quietly.
My heart dropped as the reality of his words sunk in. My beautiful baby could be in danger.
"Why is she so early?" I asked panicking slightly.
"It's just one of those things." he stated.
"But it could be due to stress." he added.
"Yeah probably." I said quietly.
It passed in a blur as we arrived at Holby and Caleb helped me out of the car and into the hospital. I sat on the bed and watched the midwife as she examined me.
"You're almost fully dilated, we won't be able to stop it." she said quietly.
I felt Caleb take my hand and smiled at him as he perched on the bed beside me.
"You can do this." he whispered in my ear.
"But Ethan should be here." I said as tears rolled down my cheeks.
"Don't think about that, right now." he said gently.
"I can't do this without him." I protested.
"Yes you can, I'm right here." he smiled at me.
