I smiled up at Caleb and began to push, like the midwife instructed.

A few moments later my baby daughter was born. I held my arms out to take her but the midwife shook her head and quickly placed her into an incubator. I watched nervously as they attached tubes to her. I was to exhausted to pay attention to what they were for.

"Cal, what's happening?" I asked worridly.

"I don't know." he admitted.

"She has RDS." one of the doctors told us.

"What's RDS?" I asked.

The doctor opened his mouth to speak but Caleb beat him to it.

"Respiratory distress syndrome, it sometimes happens with premature births because the lungs haven't developed properly." he explained.

"We'll keep her in an incubator for a while and we are giving her some oxygen. It'll be touch and go for a while, but we'll take good care of her." the doctor told me.

I nodded and stared at my daughter. She looked so small and fragile.

"Have the two of you thought of a name for her?" the midwife asked us.

"He's not the father." I said quickly.

"I'm sorry, my mistake." she said quietly.

"I'm going to call her Georgia." I stated.

"That's a pretty name." she smiled.

"My husband chose it." I said, smiling slightly as I thought of Ethan.

She smiled.

"I'm going to have to take her to the neonatal ward, she'll be watched closely, it's the best place for her." she told me.

I nodded and watched as she pushed the incubator out of the room.

"Well that was dramatic." Caleb chuckled.

"Ethan will be gutted." I sighed.

"It's not your fault, sometimes these things just happen." he said.

"Yeah." I sighed.

"You should get some sleep." he suggested.

"I can't." I whispered.

"Don't worry, I'll stay." he reassured me.

"I'll still be here when you wake up." he added.

I smiled warmly at him and closed my eyes.
