I'm so sorry readers! I got a bit distracted with something personal. I had to rearrange my writing time from earlier in the morning to later in the evening. I'm still adjusting. I'm back though. Either way. For those of you still hanging on, thank you. I hope you like this chapter. I'm keeping this one lighter-ish. There is an extremely mild peace offering at the end. Be forewarned. As always, Happy Reading.

December 29-Family Time

The sound of Wednesday's phone ringing sliced through the quiet of the early morning. Wednesday had been laying in bed awake snuggled into Enid completely content not to move for the last twenty minutes. She groaned as she leaned back to pick up her phone. "Damned infernal soul sucking parasite." She grumbled. "Addams." She stated clearly as she steadied herself. "W.F. Addams?" A voice on the other end of the call questioned cautiously. "The same." She replied curtly. "Ms. Addams, my name is Marcus. I'm with Arkham House, your publisher. We're calling to confirm your presence at the press event taking place in New York City over the next couple of days." Marcus stated. "Yes. I'll be in attendance with my plus one Ms. Enid Sinclair, and my agent Mr. Fester Addams. I did respond to the email." Wednesday clarified. She could hear the man scribbling something down on the other end of the line. "Right. I see. Ok. Would you like me to book rooms at the Marriott? Do you need me to arrange for a driver? I could also arrange a private site seeing tour, book entertainment tickets or perhaps make a reservation at a restaurant for you. Marcus inquired. "No thank you, that won't be necessary I've already taken care of everything." Wednesday answered. "Ok. Uh huh. Ok. Understood. Do you or your guests have any special needs or requests then? Dietary or otherwise?" He asked. "I don't believe so no." She replied. "Ok. Where should I have your event passes delivered?" He asked. "They can all be delivered to the address I have on file." Wednesday snapped. "I see. Expect your itinerary and passes to arrive by end of day today via currier. Have a nice day ma'am." Marcus stated wrapping up the call.

Wednesday hung up. She tossed her phone gently back on her desk. She felt Enid stir beside her. "Mmmmm. Good morning." Enid said as she stretched lazily. Wednesday pulled Enid closer, kissing her exposed neck. "Good morning darling." She whispered into her wolf's ear. "Who was that?" Enid asked. "That was someone from the publisher confirming our attendance at the event." Wednesday replied then placed another soft kiss on Enid's neck. She snuggled into Wednesday pressing their bodies as close together as they could get. "Shit. I forgot about that. When ah, when do we leave again?" Enid mumbled. "Why? Did you make other plans? We leave tomorrow morning. Enid, if you don't wish to attend, I understand. I'll be fine on my own. Besides, Fester will be there. I'm sure Ev-" Enid cut Wednesday off with a chaste kiss. "No. Stop. No spiraling. I'm going. I wouldn't miss it for the world Wens. I'm proud of you. I want to be there. I just got stuck in the void between Christmas and New Years that's all." Enid gave Wednesday a quick but loving kiss before she shifted away. "Come on. Let's get this day started." Enid grinned hopping over Wednesday and out of bed. She offered her hand out to her mate. Wednesday rolled her eyes, but took the offered hand.

After showers and breakfast Enid and Ever bundled up. They went out for a walk while Wednesday packed. They took the path between the manor and Enid's house. Stopping to admire the gazebo that Thing, Fester, Lurch, and grandmama had built and given Enid for Yule. It was beautiful, crafted from light colored hard wood and adorned with carvings of wolves. There were solar powered fairy lights hung around the inside. There was a porch swing off to the one side and a small table with two wooden chairs. It was nothing short of amazing.

Ever and Enid sat on the swing rocking gently. Enid turned to Ever. "Ev, can I ask you something?" Enid asked sheepishly. Ever nodded kicking her feet a little as the swing moved back and forth. Enid took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She could do this. She pulled two small boxes out of her coat pocket. Ever cocked her head. She narrowed her eyes. Enid froze. "Mom, is that a ring for mama?" Ever asked excitedly. Enid's eyes went wide but she nodded yes. " I ah yes. I want to ask her to marry me. Is, is that ok Ever?" Enid's voice shook a little. Ever nodded yes emphatically. Grinning from ear to ear. She hugged Enid tightly. "I'm glad I have your approval. Do you think she'll say yes?" Enid asked opening the box. Ever ran her finger over the black platinum ring with delicate reverence. "I think yes. No, I know she will say yes. She's been waiting for you for a long time mom. Her heart was always sad, but now it's not anymore. I'm glad you're here too." Enid teared up hearing the little girl's words. She smiled and hugged Ever to her side. Ever smiled back. All was quiet for a minute. The two of them sat swinging enjoying each other's company.
