"What?!"

Hiccup shouted, his voice echoing through the house as anger surged through him. He glared at his father, his hands clenched into trembling fists.

“Hiccup, I don’t want this either,” Stoick said calmly, though his voice carried a heavy weight. “Astrid is perfect for you. But…it’s what Lina wants. And Runa is sick.”

Hiccup’s jaw tightened as fury boiled in his chest. His nails dug into his palm. Toothless, sensing his rider’s distress, gently nudged his clenched hand with a soft warble.

“I’m not blind, son,” Stoick continued with a sigh. “I know you’re angry. That’s why I want you to do something.”

“What am I supposed to do?” Hiccup paced furiously across the floor. “Lina is selfish! She won’t even let her own mother retire just so she can marry me?”

Stoick nodded solemnly. “My only concern is Runa. She’s overwhelmed with her duties, no time to rest. This...arrangement isn't helping her condition.”

Hiccup stopped pacing. His voice dropped into something almost broken.

“I’ll talk to her. She can’t do this. I love Astrid so much, Dad. If I lose her, I’ll go insane.”

Stoick placed a heavy hand on his son’s shoulder and nodded. “Let’s hope she listens. I’ll speak to Runa.”

With determination burning in his chest, Hiccup opened the door, whistled for Toothless, and climbed onto his back. They soared into the sky in search of Lina.

---------------

Fifteen minutes later, they spotted her. Lina stood near the blacksmith’s hut, chatting and laughing with a few villagers. Hiccup urged Toothless lower, patting his scaly head before they landed softly behind her.

Lina turned at the sound and smirked.

“Chasing me down, Haddock? Bold move.”

Hiccup rolled his eyes, but said nothing.

“Oh look, Ms. Lina’s done it again,” one of the villagers chuckled. “She’s a keeper, eh?” he whispered to Hiccup, though it was loud enough for Lina to hear. She only smirked wider.

Hiccup leaned back slightly, glaring at her.

“Keep looking at me like that,” Lina purred, stepping forward. “You look hot when you’re angry.”

Hiccup’s hands clenched again.
“I’m not going to marry you, Lina. I love Astrid. She’s the only woman I will ever marry. She’s my betrothed, remember?”

Lina laughed, a cold sound.
“That blonde? Hiccup, she’s using you. What did she even give you for her betrothal gift? What does she offer you? She’s just another fighter in your army.”

She stalked closer. Hiccup backed up instinctively until Toothless’s warm bulk stopped him.

Lina touched his chest with a soft hand and gave a falsely sweet smile.

“Will she even satisfy you behind closed doors? You look like a man who needs to be on top. I could be submissive whenever you want…” she whispered, her face inches from his.

Hiccup froze, disgust crawling up his spine. Was she always this manipulative?

Before he could move, Lina pressed her lips against his, forcefully wrapping her arms around his neck. Hiccup grunted and tried to pull away, but she was surprisingly strong. He struggled, shoving at her shoulders.
