Thirds POV

"Good afternoon m'lady!" Hiccup said with a mischievous grin, kissing Astrid's cheek before sitting down next to her. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close, his fingers lightly brushing the fabric of her tunic. His smile was soft and affectionate, his heartbeat in sync with the rhythm of their quiet moment together.

"Wow, you seem to be in a good mood today, chief." Astrid teased, her voice light but filled with warmth as she kissed his cheek in return. The soft scent of fresh sea breeze lingered in the air, the calming sound of waves crashing against the shore not too far from where they sat.

Hiccup chuckled, the sound vibrating in his chest as he leaned back, completely at ease. "I'm always in a good mood when I'm with my wife."

Astrid's cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink, and Hiccup grinned wider, his gaze lingering on her rosy face. He knew it happened every time he called her “his wife”—that sweet, flustered reaction that made him feel like the luckiest man alive.

They had been married for almost two weeks now, still adjusting to the playful teasing from their friends and the overly emotional congratulations from Hiccup’s mother. But when it was just the two of them, alone in their little corner of the world, it felt like everything was exactly where it was meant to be.

They shared a warm little hut, Toothless nestled by the hearth inside, and Stormfly comfortably settled beside their home with her own stable. It was a perfect balance of new beginnings and old friends.

Astrid shook off the blush and, with a playful glint in her eyes, lightly jabbed his stomach with her elbow. Hiccup winced, his hand instinctively going to the spot, and he shot her a mock glare.

"That hurt, m'lady," he pouted, his voice dripping with exaggerated drama as he leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest.

Astrid raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a teasing smile. "You’ve had bruises from the missions you always go on, and you're complaining about a little jab to the stomach?" Her laughter bubbled up effortlessly, and Hiccup found it contagious.

Hiccup chuckled, rubbing his side with a sheepish grin. "Yeah, I was being dramatic. It’s kind of my thing."

He sat up a little straighter and gently took Astrid’s right hand, his thumb softly tracing the intricate pattern on her custom ring. His smile grew, like sunlight breaking through clouds, and he stared at her ring for a moment before looking up into her eyes.

"This all still feels like a dream, you know? Everything is so perfect that I’m afraid I’m dreaming," Hiccup murmured softly, his voice filled with awe. He pressed a gentle kiss to the back of her hand, the warmth of his lips lingering on her skin.

Astrid smiled softly, her heart swelling with love as she squeezed his hand in return. "No, Hiccup, this isn't a dream. You’ve worked so hard to bring peace to everyone… to all of us. You and Toothless deserve this, more than anyone else."

Hiccup’s throat tightened, and for a split second, his eyes seemed to shimmer with unshed tears. He never would have made it this far without her. She was his anchor, his partner in every sense of the word.

He couldn’t help it. He leaned in and kissed her deeply, his hands cradling her face as he lost himself in the kiss. It was slow, deliberate, full of everything he was feeling for her in that moment—love, gratitude, and a deep, unspoken connection.

"I love you so much, Astrid. Being with you is the best thing in my life," Hiccup whispered against her lips, his voice rough with emotion.

Astrid laughed softly, pulling back just enough to meet his gaze. "Really? I thought it was Toothless who was the best thing in your life." She teased, raising an eyebrow playfully.

Hiccup’s eyes widened in mock horror. "Shhh! He might be around!" He leaned in closer, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "You’re the best thing that ever happened to me, Astrid. No one can top that."

Astrid smirked, her lips quirking in a mischievous smile. "Not even Toothless?"

Hiccup shook his head, laughing, but the sincerity in his voice never wavered. "Not even Toothless."

She laughed harder, the sound like music to his ears. "Babe, I’m just kidding. I know how much Toothless means to you. I'm not jealous or anything." She winked, the teasing gleam in her eyes making Hiccup grin wider.

Hiccup furrowed his brows, his tone turning serious as he looked deep into her eyes. "But I wasn’t kidding, Astrid. You’re seriously the best thing that happened to me. I wouldn’t have made it here if it weren’t for you. I care about you and Toothless more than anything." His voice was thick with emotion, and the weight of his words made Astrid’s heart flutter in her chest.

Her smile softened, her cheeks tinged with pink. "What has gotten into you today? You’re extra affectionate lately."

Hiccup laughed lightly, his grin never fading. "Nothing! I swear. Can’t a husband sweet-talk his wife?" His tone was low, playful, and he leaned even closer to her, as though daring her to resist him.

Astrid leaned back slightly, her eyes narrowing in mock suspicion. "Well, I think my husband is just being a dork and wants to tease his wife."

Hiccup shrugged nonchalantly, his grin wide. "Your dork."

Astrid narrowed her eyes at him, a mischievous glint in her gaze as she muttered under her breath, "Muttonhead."

Hiccup gasped, clutching his chest in dramatic shock. "Oh, m’lady! I heard that!" He leaned forward, pretending to be scandalized, but there was a playful twinkle in his eye.

"You’re like a big baby, you know that?" Astrid said, laughing.

Hiccup smiled, his eyes softening. "Yet you love me."

Astrid stared at him for a long moment, her eyes searching his face. The world seemed to still as they shared this quiet, intimate moment. She finally spoke, her voice a gentle whisper. "Yes, that I do love you."

Hiccup’s heart nearly stopped right there, and without a second thought, he pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her tightly, leaving no space between them. The warmth of her body against his was enough to make the whole world fade away. Astrid leaned her head against his chest, and for a long while, they just stayed like that, watching the sun sink lower in the sky, painting the world in soft oranges and purples.

The sunset was stunning, but it didn’t compare to the perfect little world they had built together. There was nothing more beautiful than this moment, the two of them, side by side, hearts intertwined, surrounded by everything they had fought for.

No words were needed. Just the sound of their breathing and the steady rhythm of their hearts beating together. It was more than enough.
