Astrid's POV
I knocked on Hiccup's door and waited for a few minutes. I wanted to talk to him about the upcoming date we had tonight.
He told me to warm up because the area we’re going to is pretty cold and Hiccup knows I hate the cold. But if it means being in his arms, I don’t mind.
I needed to know if he was bringing a blanket for us or not, so I could bring one instead.
After waiting for a few minutes, no one opened the door, which left me confused. Maybe Hiccup was sleeping.
I opened the door and peeked inside. It was a little bit dark. I opened the door wider and walked in.
"Hiccup!" I shouted, but got no response.
"Huh, maybe he’s not here," I said to myself.
I looked around his hut. It was pretty clean except for his desk. It was filled with a lot of papers, bits of metal, and some leather, I think. I walked toward it and saw some drawings of Toothless’s tail and sketches of the dragons we freed from the dragon hunters two days ago.
I figured I’d wait a few minutes here in Hiccup’s hut. As I walked around, I saw a map of the whole Dragon’s Edge. There were scribbles and lines on it, but I didn’t understand them, so I just kept wandering around.
A bunch of papers caught my eye on the table near his fur-lined chair. I walked toward them and picked them up. Instantly, I felt that bad-gut feeling, ike I was invading his privacy. But I know Hiccup. He doesn’t mind me snooping a little.
I was surprised to see that they were plans—detailed ones—about attacking Viggo and the dragon hunters. The plan was so articulate and well-coordinated. I felt proud of him.
I wanted to sit, so I walked around the table to get to the fur-lined chair. While reading the plan, I didn’t notice something on the floor and tripped.
"Woah!"
The papers flew, and to my horror, two of them landed in the fire pit and burned.
I gasped and scrambled to retrieve what I could. I looked at the remaining pages, they were the ones I had already read. The ones that got burned were the ones I hadn’t even looked at yet.
Oh no. Hiccup is going to kill me… or worse…
It was a good plan, and it probably took him days to perfect. And I ruined it with my carelessness. I could feel tears welling in my eyes just imagining Hiccup yelling at me—angry and disappointed.
The worst thing he could do… is break up with me. And honestly, that might be what he does after this.
I don’t even know what I did to make Hiccup love me in the first place. I can’t cook, I can’t sew, and I can’t act like those perfect Berk women. I was trained to be a shieldmaiden, not a housewife.
I love Hiccup so much, and I didn’t want him to break up with me… but I knew I had to tell him. I burned the pages by accident. The guilt was already eating me alive. So, I carefully placed the remaining papers back on the table and ran outside. Of course, not forgetting to close the door behind me.
I ran to my hut, heart racing, needing to think… not knowing someone was watching me.

Third POV
The gang was all at the clubhouse, except Hiccup, who had arrived at his hut 30 minutes ago from an early flight Toothless insisted on taking.
He had just landed on his platform when he saw a blonde girl running out of his hut. Immediately, he knew it was his betrothed—Astrid.
Hiccup wondered why Astrid had been in his hut. Not that he minded, she was welcome there anytime. But he was curious why she ran out like she had just seen something.
