Hiccup's POV

"Hiccup! The twins are playing with Hookfang's gel again!"

"Hiccup, There's a terror mail from Berk."

"Hiccup, Are you done with the plan?"

"Hiccup, Where are you?"

"Hiccup!"

"Hiccup!"

"Hiccup!"

"Just stop!"

I slammed my fist onto the desk, breathing heavily in and out, trying to ground myself. Toothless must have sensed my distress-he padded over, letting out a soft warble of concern before gently nudging his head against my arm.

I could still hear the gang's voices outside-the chaos, the shouting. All of it felt like nails on a chalkboard. The noise fed into the pounding headache that had been tormenting me since morning.

"I need a moment, Toothless," I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper.

Pushing myself up, I walked out of the hut, squinting at the sudden sunlight. Just as I stepped outside, a loud explosion echoed from the arena. I groaned internally, clenching my fists as the throbbing in my skull intensified. Without another word, I turned and started heading toward the forest.

"Hiccup! The twins-AHHHH!" someone yelled from behind. Probably Fishlegs, judging by the panic.

I ignored them all. I just kept walking, needing distance-space to breathe. No more noise. No more responsibility. Just peace.

Behind me, I heard hurried footsteps and a familiar voice that, despite everything, brought a small wave of calm through my tense body.

"Hey, Hiccup! We've been looking for you everywhere! The twins are tearing everything apart again, and Snotlout-"

"Astrid," I cut her off, my voice strained, "just... stop. I need a break from all of this. From whatever this is. Come find me later, please."

I didn't wait for her reply. I took off, running deeper into the forest, where the trees would muffle the world and give me the silence I craved.

After twenty minutes of walking beneath the canopy, the only sounds were the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves in the breeze. I finally stopped at a quiet spot and slumped down at the base of a tree, leaning my back against its rough bark.

I exhaled deeply. The headache hadn't completely disappeared, but it had dulled into a manageable throb. This... this was what I needed. No twins causing chaos. No Berk. No dragon hunters, no disasters. Just the perfect quiet.

"Ugh, I wish I didn't have all these responsibilities," I muttered to no one. "Would it kill the universe to let me be a kid again."

I closed my eyes and let the forest soothe me. My mind drifted as the tension melted from my limbs. I didn't even notice the quiet rustle of bushes behind me. A strange warmth spread through my body-tingling, but not unpleasant. It felt... peaceful. Safe.

And with that, I slipped into sleep, unaware that something had begun to change. Unaware of what I had just become.

------------

"Hiccup? Oh Thor, w-what happened?"

I heard a voice and groaned, lifting my head and rubbing my eyes as the blurriness began to fade. I looked around at the large forest surrounding me, then down at myself. I was wearing an oversized red tunic, with big boots nearby and some pieces of leather armor-definitely Gobber's work from the forge.
