Rude Awakening

Back in the cave, the teens all sat in one circle around the table each holding a set of cards while Mae sat at her desk.

"Mae, I need your help!" Kenji yelled. "Does a full house beat four of a kind?"

"No, sorry Kenji." Mae said. "Not today not ever."

"Aw man!" Kenji groaned throwing his cards on the table leaving only Patrick and Yaz left.

"Boom!" Patrick exclaimed slamming his cards on the table before striking at Yaz.

"Don't mean to interrupt all the fun, but if anyone wants to round up some chestnuts in the forest, I make a pretty mean soup." Mae said.

"I'll go." Yaz said. "It's getting kind of boring beating these guys."

Yaz placed her cards on the table causing Patrick to widen his eyes in shock, the track star only winking at him before standing up.

"I'll come with." Patrick said standing up following his girlfriend through the forest. The couldn't help but hold hands and admire the environment around them.

"You have got to take me to Wyoming when we get back home." Yaz whispered.

"Hey... can we talk about yesterday?" Patrick asked causing Yaz to look down. Did you mean it?"

"I... I thought we were going to die..." She admitted.

"I don't care about that." Patrick said tightening his grip on her hand. "Did you mean it?"

"I... yes." Yaz whispered before her eyes caught something in the bushes. "Huh?"

"What?" Patrick asked as Yaz knelt down to pick up her notebook.

"How'd this get out here?" Yaz asked flipping through the pages to see her old drawings until she landed on the drawing of an older woman. "I miss you mom..."

Suddenly, the sound of a very familiar roar caused the two teens to freeze. The looked to see the Indominus Rex snarling at them. Yaz backed up behind Patrick who stood in front of her protectively. The sound of a different roar caused the tow to turn and see Toro and a Ceratosaurus growling at them.

"Patrick?" Yaz whimpered.

"Run." Patrick said when suddenly, the Scorpios Rex jumped down from the tree right on top of the boy, hitting Yaz with its tail causing Yaz to stumble into the bushes covering her ears as her boyfriend began to scream in pain, tears falling down her cheek. She looked down seeing the Scorpios quills lodged in her torso, the poison shooting through her body.

Once the screaming ceased Yaz found herself surrounded by the dinosaurs, blood staining the Scorpios's mouth as Yaz held herself, still crying as the Dinosaurs all lunged towards her at once.

Suddenly, she shoot awake, gasping for air. Looking around she saw the others all scattered across the living room passed out sleeping. She peeked over to see Patrick sleeping peacefully on the couch causing her to sigh.

"You okay love?" Mae asked from her desk causing Yaz to turn toward her.

"Oh I'm fine." Yaz assured.

"Well, I only asked cause you gasped quite loudly and startled awake and rushed to your boyfriend, not that its not absolutely adorable..." Mae said.
