~Lars POV~

As I stand in the doorway, everyone stares right at me.

"What?" I ask them, but Steven and Connie shrug, and look around awkwardly. I look at Sadie and she is staring out the window, pretending to day dream. I let out a puff of breath.

"Whatever." I close the door behind me and I put my coat up on the coat rack. Grabbing my phone from my pocket, I stare at the long crack in the middle of it, from when I threw it at the wall. As I start to go to the boxes set down for me to stock; I hear Connie take out her flip phone and puts it to her ear.

"Hi mother. Oh- you want me to go home right away? And bring Steven with me? Oh alright. Goodbye mother." She quickly puts the phone back in her purse, and grabs Steven by the hand, and says to Sadie,

"Love to stay and chat, but we got to go." As they both start to leave, I hear Steven say,

"But your mom didn't even call." As the door closes with a 'ding' I glance at Sadie and she is messing with nothing on the counter, trying to ignore me. Sighing softly, I start to stock a little.

Only after 3 minutes, I couldn't take the silence anymore. Standing up, I clear my throat, and look at Sadie.

"I'm gonna go to the break room, ok?" She nods and messes with a strand of her hair.

  At least she answered me.

I fix my hair a bit seeing my curls are unruly, and I start to walk to the door to the back room. Before I open the door, I turn to Sadie one last time.

"Y-You sure you okay without me here; P2?" She stops moving instantly.

  Uh-oh.

She sucks in a breath.

"Yeah, I'll be good Lars. I've been in worse situations." I nod slowly, and open the door, and closing it softly behind me. Making sure I'm quiet as possible, I lean my back against the door, and slide down it, sitting against it with a soft thud. I rub my forehead, and then run my fingers through my hair as I do.

What did she mean by, 'I've been in worse situations.'?

Worst situations with me?

Or just something in her past?

I slowly get up and look in the cracks of the glass donut container, and I see Sadie, and she is sniffling and has her mind somewhere else. I trace my fingers against the glass, feeling useless and terrible. Backing away, I go to the TV and turn it on to a random channel, and turn the volume down so Sadie won't hear it. I then go to the table and sit on a chair, propping my feet on it and then leaning back slightly. As I try to zone out, I hear a sudden 'ding' from the door. Sadie sniffles one last time, and then says,

 "Oh- hi Amethyst."

~SadiesPOV~

The purple gem scratches her back and nods to me. She trudges to the counter and rubs her eyes.

"Hey Sadie," I'm a bit surprised she remembered my name, since she once called Lars, 'donut guy'

"What do you and donut guy got for me today?" I correct her,

"You mean Lars- and; I got the usual for you." She looks at me with a slight confused look.

"I thought you and Lars were a team? Like, you work together all the time." I shrug slightly. Amethyst says,

"Uh...I know it's not my business, but are you doing ok? Is it about the fire salt again?" I shake my head, starting to feel bad about that again.

"No." I go through one of the drawers and get out my new emergency donut and take a bite out of it.

"It's just about Lars...he said something to me, and it just broke my heart. And I'm not sure if I should forgive him yet." Amethyst leans in and says,

"Look, I'm gonna tell you something I told Steven a long time ago-" I listen closely to her.

"You can't let anyone make you feel like garbage...even him." I blink slightly and sniffle.

"I don't know Amethyst. I...I don't hate him. It's just-" I suddenly hear a crash from the break room and I perk up.

"Uh,I'll just go look through your garbage for anything good." She then leaves without saying another word. I quickly open the break room door and I see Lars sprawled on his back and winces softly, trying to get up, but can't. Rolling my eyes, I go to him and look down at him. He slowly peeks at me, and then opens his eyes fully.

 "Oh hey..."

"You know leaning in a chair is dangerous, and its stupid- not cool." He glares slightly.

"I wasn't! I was um..." He goes quiet then groans. "Fine, I was." Slowly,I hold out my hand, and Lars firmly grasps it; and I help him up. As he stands up, I hear a 'ding' from the door.

"I better go and see who that is." Lars nods, but looks at me. As I look back at him, I see we're still holding hands. Small goose bumps crawl up my arms, and I feel my face start to get hot.

"Hello? Anyone here?" The person asks from the counter, starting to get impatient. Slowly, I let go of Lars hands, and leave him behind to do my job.
