~Sadies POV~

As I run, I can't help but think about my father; and when he'll be back.

He should be out within a few months...

But at least he's gone now.

As I climb up my door steps, I see the door is already open. Slowly, I push it and it fully opens. I blink surprised; everything is a mess. As I step inside, I step on something and it cracks slightly. Moving my foot, I see I step on some broken glass, and then I see the puddle of water and red roses. Suddenly, I get a flash back.

Daren and I tussle on the floor and he slams me against the wall multiple times.

"You think you can make me stop?" He shoves me as I try to stand, "Huh?! You can't do nothin!" I open my eyes slowly and see the vase. I pick it up and pour out the water and flowers, and I swing with all my strength at his head, and it breaks instantly. Daren falls to the floor in pain and I jump on top of him, punching his head.

"You can't hurt me or my mom any more! Get out! out out out!" As he tries to shake me off, he bursts through the door onto to the sidewalk-

I rub my forehead softly.

Did I actually fight my own father?

As I look up, I see my mother, kneeling on the floor, and I start to walk up closer to her. Placing my hand on her shoulder; she looks at me and her eyes are red from crying.

"Mom?" She sniffles and I see she's holding some cloth. Then I remember, during me and Daren's struggle, I must have ripped off some of his shirt.

Wow

I'm strong...!

I hold my moms hand, and as sneak as I can, I slip it out of her hands and hold it in mine, then tossed it to the floor; and luckily she doesn't notice (or just doesn't care).

"You-" She smiles softly, and says before I can finish,

"I-I'm okay, kiddo."

"You don't seem okay..." She sniffles again and her smile wavers.

"I-I...I just thought he changed. The love a-and affection he used to give to me was back; a-and I was sucked into it and I didn't want to leave him a-and I was blinded-" She grips her knees, "B-By his love; w-why...why did this happen?" I hug her close to me. Slowly, I take out my phone and play the recording I took. As she listens to our voices closely, I see her eyes start to shine brighter as the tears fall.

"He-...he never cared about me? E-Even after..." She goes silent as she wants to hear more. Once the recording is over, I look at my distraught mother.

"You okay ma?" As I look at her face, a single tears trails down her cheek and I feel myself start to feel guilty. But suddenly, my mother swoops me up and hugs me tightly.

"Oh Sadie...why didn't you say something!" I try my hardest to breath.

"I thought you'd b-be mad!" My mother loosens up a bit and makes me look her in the eyes.

"You're my number one person; I'd never be mad at you...if something happens again; you better tell me...please Sadie; for your safety." She looks at my busted and bruised face.

"If you told me this earlier; maybe none of this would've happened." As I nod, she puts me down and I sniffle and wipe my eyes.

"B-But what are you going to do now?"  She sighs.
