Chapter 50:

"Yes, the weakness was in the muscle on its thighs, then on the back of its neck."

Sir Mao didn't think she would find it in just a short period of time since he was waiting for her to ask for help earlier, but she didn't and even took it down. He just chuckled at her statement, which made her frown at him.

"You don't look impressed by it, or I should say that you are expecting me to ask for your help?"

"Yes, I expect that you could at least ask me how to handle it, but then you already found its weakness in a short period. I am impressed."

"Well, aren't I a talented, am I?"

Sir Mao nodded, feeling pleased that his student was talented, and he thought she was already nearly to surpass him in a short period, within a few months. Davina smirked at his silent agreement as she picked up the magic stone from her prey.

"Let's go further. I am going to catch the strongest one here!"

She declared as she walked towards the inner part of the forest, while Sir Mao sighed as he followed her, since he couldn't stop her now. They encounter different beasts as they progress, and the beasts they meet become stronger, which Sir Mao needs to assist her, especially when they are in a group.

"We should rest for a bit, Lady Davina."

"Alright."

She agreed since they have been slaying beasts for a while now, so Sir Mao immediately put down their bag that contains their tent and other things. It was past lunchtime when he checked the time on his pocket watch while Davina looked around and picked up wood that they could use for a fire, since they would cook the rabbit they had caught.

They rest and eat to replenish their energy before they proceed to continue going further into the forest's inner parts. The trees were bigger and humid that the sunrays barely reach the ground, which is moist and colder as they get into it. Sir Mao was prepared to protect Davina behind her while she looked around their surroundings, but she was also prepared to defend in case some beasts attacked them.

"It's different from earlier." She said, observing around.

"Of course, it is. Weaker beasts don't come near this part, so expect that they are stronger here, stronger than what we faced earlier. Be ready and don't let your guard down." Sir Mao said while he also look around.

"I know."

Davina said as she didn't sound like the usual since she could also feel that it was different from earlier, as she looked around and stopped, which made Sir Mao stop behind her. She pushed Sir Mao aside, which made him surprised and fall onto the ground when she used her sword to meet the paws of the beasts behind him. Sir Mao didn't notice not until it growled behind him and almost got him, but then Davina felt it and immediately took action to protect him.

"Ugh. F*ck! Move, Sir Mao."

Davina said while she is staying still, even though she is having a hard time, he immediately got up, and helped her after putting down their things for him to move properly. They managed to take it down for almost 30 minutes, so both of them are panting and catching their breath.

"Is this the strongest one?" She asked, catching her breathe.

"No, there are three more after this. I heard that the Crown Prince faced the strongest one before when he was younger, but they fled since they couldn't take it down, and his companions were injured. After that, they didn't see it until now." He answered, also catching his breathe.

"You mean to say the Crown Prince already faced every beast here?" She asked again.

"Yes. However, the strongest one is the only one he didn't catch yet, since it never shows up, since he faced it once, so the other beasts were the only ones he faced, but in the past years, he didn't go here until today that he declared going here in the inner parts of the forest." He answered, seriously.
