Davina felt nervous when she saw the big people at the table, since they were all high-ranking nobles, and Crown Prince Renz noticed how tightly she gripped his arms as they walked.
"Do you want to go to the balcony to take a rest?" Crown Prince Renz asked as he gently held her hand.
"Yes, if you let me, Your Highness," Davina answered without a second thought. She was honestly feeling nervous being seated at the same table with all of them.
"Alright, take your time," Crown Prince Renz said before releasing her hand and walking back toward their table.
Ian raised an eyebrow at him, then shifted his gaze toward Davina's retreating figure as she headed for the balcony.
Davina immediately made her way to the balcony and pulled the curtain shut, shielding herself from the crowd inside. The moment she was alone, she let out a quiet sigh of relief and leaned against the handrail.
"Why do I feel nervous and at the same time, happy to see them? This is the first time I've seen them all together," she uttered, closing her eyes as she allowed the cold breeze to brush against her face.
Her right hand instinctively moved to her chest. Her heart was beating far too quickly, and she couldn't understand why.
There was something strange about being around them.
Something familiar.
Davina felt as though she had known them before, yet at the same time, she felt distant from them—just as she always did whenever she sensed herself getting too close to someone.
But this time, the feeling was different.
It was as though there was something she was supposed to remember.
Something she had lost.
Something she couldn't name.
The thought alone made her head throb.
Then, without warning, a faint voice echoed inside her mind.
"...Avy, you better tell me,"
"...I'm so sorry, Ia--"
"Who was that?" she uttered, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
Her chest felt unbearably heavy.
She didn't understand why she felt as though whatever had happened in that memory was truly her doing. What confused her even more was the fact that the person's face remained blurry, no matter how hard she tried to remember.
Why couldn't she see who it was?
Why did hearing those words hurt so much?
"Lady Bennett, are you okay?" Ian's voice came from inside the room as he waited patiently for her response.
"...I am okay," Davina answered after taking a deep breath.
Her voice was slightly shaky despite her attempt to sound normal.
