The sun was looming above Voldcaldera on a nice summer's day. Many Voldcalderians were either inside beating the heat by cranking up their air conditioners to full max, which kept their homes the same degree as Antarctica, or were taking advantage of the huge waterparks that Voldcaldera offers on the coastline-ironic, since Voldcaldera was mainly known for the gorgeous beaches that were right next door there-while the unfortunate others had nothing to do, or the many that had no money who had to suffer without an air conditioner.
Thankfully for Lucy, the church that she teaches catechism at has powerful air-conditioning so she and her students wouldn't get burned out on the spot. School was out for everyone for the summer, but teaching about their saurian lord never takes breaks. She enjoys what she does, especially seeing the eager-to-learn children and taking the time to play for them and for mass whenever Saturdays and Sundays come around.
Her usual weekdays were full of spending time with her family and catching up with her friends, but most of the days she had that weren't the weekend were spent tending to the children's center. She loved being the supplier for the children's center, seeing all those adorable faces that she wishes she could take home and squeeze. From the church to the kids, seeing those happy faces always put a great big smile on her face.
It was now the end of her teaching day, which caused the ptero to look on her precious kids sadly as they scrambled to get their things together to leave. She loved teaching, and she loved the kids she taught; it was always a joy seeing those eager faces to learn something new about life that many were so unfortunate to decline.
Watching the kids run out of her classroom, some trampling over the others to get out first because they were eager to get home, causing the ptero to shake her head, Lucy closes up shop for today after a wonderful morning of teaching.
Wearing a bright blue sundress to beat the heat along with a floppy beige hat with a black ribbon strapped around it, the pterosaur makes her way out of her relief zone of her classroom, out into the heat and away from her nice and air-conditioned room, already regretting leaving her safe haven. Lucy would much rather stay inside her than go out into the boiling day ahead of her, but she had to get going to meet up with her friends today since Anon would take her to Trish's apartment.
She was ready, slightly nervous, but wanting to spend more time with her friend because they hadn't had the time all last week to chat because of how weak Trish has become so suddenly. Ever since the party, for which Lucy had scolded Trish for why she even decided to go, the triceratops had felt ill. Every bone in her body felt like Silly Putty, and she felt as if she had been melting into her bed for the past couple of days.
Trish has to have help constantly from Reed. Even Stella and Rosa make surprise appearances by showing up with groceries to refill the sickly triceratops's fridge that has alarmingly fast begun to run out, even showing up with worm food for Mango, who was always a happy wiggly worm at the sight of more food to nibble on. She didn't know where she'd be or what she'd do without Reed, Stella, or Rosa.
They have helped her, prompted her, and encouraged her end after end to seek help for this condition that fluctuates day after day. Some days she feels as if she could take on the world, ready to jump out of her bed, grab her worm, and spring out the window to do whatever she wants, but most days have her groaning in pain, vomiting from said pain, and sometimes going as far as chugging the pain medications to get this pain to stop.
Which was why Reed was in charge of her medication, especially after one night he saw her about to take an alarming dosage that had him worried for his best friend.
Lucy wanted nothing but for her friend to get better, but it seemed as if everything they did to keep her from succumbing to her condition only pushed away the pain, only for it to come back with a vengeance. She was scared for her friend, wanting to do anything to help her and be by her side, but she has duties she has to tend to. She can't always be by her friend's side, which is why she relied on Reed and his hourly updates.
