Scorpius Malfoy
Over the next few days, Scorpius tried to pull himself out of his slump. He tried to focus more on his grades, even though he didn't care at all what his father said about them, he just needed something to do. Something to take his mind of things.
Scorpius also tried to avoid Rose as much as possible. It wasn't that he didn't want to see her, he did very much indeed want to, he was just afraid of how she would act. He wasn't really aware of how she would respond to him, after he kissed her. He desperately wanted to talk to her, but he felt it was best not too.
It was a rainy afternoon in late November and Scorpius was sitting in the Ravenclaw common room, enjoying a good book. He'd been sitting there for almost an hour, when he looked up and saw Jo and Rose enter the room. Scorpius quickly averted his gaze, burying himself in his book. Once he thought they were gone, he slowly peeped over the side of his book and was discouraged to see Rose directly in front of his face.
"Scorpius, what are you doing?" she said, with a small laugh and smile on her face.
Scorpius cleared his throat, which he was suddenly aware of had become incredibly dry. "Um, I was, um, just.. reading," he said, his voice cracking.
He noticed Jo giggling behind the book she held in her arms, but Rose smiled sweetly down at him. "Okay then," she said, turning to go, "Have fun reading,"
Rose and Jo walked away, heading towards the girl's dormitories. Once Scorpius was sure they were gone, he raced out the common room door. He needed to find Albus.
~
"Albus, I have officially become a dork." Scorpius announced once he found Albus in the Great Hall.
Albus laughed. "I already knew that mate,"
Scorpius rolled his eyes. "I'm serious Albus. I literally just hid from Rose behind a book."
Albus roared with laughter this time, but all he said was, "So you literally hid from her, not figuratively?"
Scorpius punched Albus in the arm. "I came to you with my problems, something you're always telling me to do, and now you're making fun of me! Some friend you are,"
Albus finally finished laughing, then put on a serious face. "Alright mate, what is it?"
"Let's take a walk,"

The boys grabbed jackets and headed out to the Black Lake. Scorpius always found peace being outside. He loved all the fresh air and he especially loved the smell of rain that hung in the air.
"Okay, what did you want to talk about?" Albus asked taking a seat under a big tree close to the lake's shore line.
"Here," Scorpius threw a piece of paper at Albus, "Read it,"
Scorpius picked up a few flat rocks and started skipping them across the lake's surface. He'd already thrown a few rocks when Albus said, "Awe, I'm sorry mate. That's rough,"
Scorpius just shrugged. "It's fine, I expected it to happen sooner or later," he continued to skip rocks.
"I know, but it's still tough. Do you want to come stay most of the holidays at my house? You know my mum loves you,"
"Could I?" Scorpius asked, turning to face his best friend. "Even though the divorce doesn't bother me, it'll still be awkward being there with just my father or just my mother. And I definitely don't want to be cooped up in the bloody mansion all of break."
"Sure Scorp," said Albus, "I'll write to my parents, but I'm sure they'll let you stay,"
"Thanks mate." Scorpius debated whether or not to tell him, but it in the end it just slipped out. "Oh, and by the way, I kissed your cousin,"
"What?!?!"
Rose Weasley
"So then what happened?" Jo asked, almost on the edge of her seat.
"He kissed me!"
Rose was relating all the details to Jo about her fight with Scorpius and then the little kiss they shared. She'd told Jo almost everything, minus the conversation she had with Albus. There was some information that she shouldn't share.
"So what do you think this means for you two?" Jo squealed, which in Rose's opinion didn't seem like Jo.
Rose wasn't sure how to answer the question. She didn't feel like they would become a couple just after one kiss, but she wasn't sure. "I don't know Jo," she answered honestly, "We'll see what happens."
"Is he going to stay over for winter break?" Jo asked.
"Don't know," Rose said, "I'm assuming so, but he normally decides that with Albus."
"Well, I hope he does just for your sake,"
Jo glanced at her watch. "Oh! I have to go meet Louis! Later Rosie!" Jo got up from her bed and pecked Rose on the cheek, then left the room.
Rose laid down on her bed, filled with thought. A few thoughts drifted in about Scorpius, but they were mainly about Jo and how weird she was acting. Jo was acting so much more girly and giggly than normal. Rose was the one who was giggly and girly in the relationship, not Jo. It seemed like the roles had switched, which wasn't bad thing, it was just odd.
Suddenly, Rose's eyes began to feel droopy. She felt so comfortable lying on her bed, she might just rest her eyes for a few minutes....

"You kissed my cousin?" Albus exclaimed, looking utterly surprised.
Scorpius felt a little scared. He wasn't sure how he was going to react. Was he going to be angry or happy? Albus had definitely been a little upset when he started dating Lily, but that was his sister. Although, Rose and Albus were almost like brother and sister..
"Yeah, I did." Scorpius said, waiting anxiously for Albus's reply.
Scorpius couldn't make out Albus's expression. His emotions were very vague. Then, out of the blue, Albus had a huge grin appear on his face. "Way to go, man!" he exclaimed, slapping Scorpius on the back.
Scorpius was a little taken aback, "Way to go?" he repeated, as though he were saying a foreign sentence.
"Yes Scorpius, way to go!" Albus practically had to spell out each word for Scorpius.
"I thought you'd be, uh, mad?" Scorpius looked at his feet.
"Mate, why would I be mad? I've told you many times that I love the idea of you and Rose together. It's about bloody time you kissed her." Albus's grin only widened.
Scorpius felt nothing but relief. He was glad he hadn't upset his best friend.
"You better make another move on her at Christmas or I'll have to hex you," Albus continued.
Scorpius laughed. "Alright mate, I'll do my best."
Albus positioned himself to look directly into Scorpius eyes. "Mate, one more thing. If you ever hurt her, I'll have no choice but to hex you. Got it?"
Scorpius gulped, then nodded. He would never hurt Rose.
"Now come on, let's go back inside. I'm bloody freezing out here." Albus put his arm around Scorpius's shoulder and the two best friends walked back up to the castle.
