Alessia's pov:
"You're freaking late, Trev!" Von snapped the moment she saw Trevor step through the door.
Itong si ibon lagi nalang talagang galit.
We had been waiting for him for what felt like forever. My ears were practically bleeding from Rei's nonstop singing, she had turned the bar into her own personal KTV. And to think we came here for drinks and peace, hindi para pakinggan ang pangit niyang boses!
"FYI," Trevor retorted, rolling his eyes, "nag-overtime lang ako dahil may mga ipis na namang nakabantay sa labas ng kumpanya ng ex ni boss!"
I clenched my jaw. I knew it. They're never going to stop, not until everyone important to me is gone. They couldn't kill me, so now they're targeting the people around me. They wanted to destroy me from the inside.
Well, not on my fucking watch.
"Any information, Mike?" I asked, trying to calm myself.
Mike nodded before sitting straighter in his seat. "Lahat ng mga napapatay natin ay mga tauhan ni Velmor Quizon," he began. "A gang leader with ties to multiple criminal operations through the years. Nahuli natin siya, but he won't talk. Loyal siya sa mga kliyente niya."
"We just need evidence, Mike," I said through gritted teeth. "If he won't talk, then I will make him."
"P-pero Boss," Trev spoke up cautiously, "that's against your protocol. We need to stay in the shadows, especially you."
"Let her," Von cut in, sipping her whiskey with a crooked grin. "I wanna see how this fucker turns into an animal."
luh, ano ako aso?
Rei abruptly stood up, breaking the tension in the room.
"Jusko naman kayo!" she exclaimed dramatically. "Ganito pala kayo mag-usap kapag naka mafia mode. Medyo scary, pero mga kupal pa rin kayo." She laughed, unbothered, as if she wasn't surrounded by dangerous people.
bakit nga ba namin siya kasama?! puro kabalastugan eh!
We never really saw ourselves as a mafia. We didn't work with criminals, we hunted them. We didn't kill for sport or power, we killed because someone had to. We delivered justice to those who asked for it.
I took a slow sip of my drink, letting the bitter taste linger before shifting my gaze back to Mike.
"How about the rat?" I asked calmly.
Without a word, Mike reached for the bag at their side, unzipped it, and pulled out a envelope. It was handed to me, and I accepted it without hesitation.
A smirk curled at my lips.
Hindi nga ako nagkamali. I had been sensing it before, someone was watching us, following from a distance, careful not to be seen. Wherever Aia and I went, that presence was there, lurking just out of sight. But I wasn't blind. I knew.
"Interesting," I muttered, then dropped the papers onto the table with a dull thud.
Rei, who had been quietly observing, narrowed her eyes at the envelope. Curiosity got the best of her. She reached for the papers and began to read.
Seconds passed.
Then her jaw dropped.
The sheet slipped from her fingers and landed on the floor. "No way this is real-"
