Saying Goodbye.
How does one say goodbye to someone whom they thought would be their forever? Zoya, my wife. I don't know what to do without you. How will I be able to take care of our baby Aizah without you? I never thought I would bury my wife, and at the same time look at my innocent daughter who would never know what her mother's voice or face looks like.
Tayyal lowered his wife's body to the grave even though his father, father-in-law, and brother-in-law volunteered, but he disagreed.
"She is my wife...the love of my life. I made a promise and I intend to fulfil it," he said, keeping himself together for Aizah and Zianna.
He removed himself and placed her properly inside the grave. It was one of the hardest things anyone has done, especially if it's a relative.
After the burial, Tayyal returned home to find his sisters there, trying to keep everything the way it was, but they all knew that deep inside, nothing would ever be the same again.
"Asalam Aleikum, where is Aizah?" He asked when he didn't see his daughter with them.
"She is with Azhar's cousin..."
Nour didn't even finish what she was saying when Tayyal walked to where Aizah was. He didnt trust anyone except his sisters to look after Aizah.
Tayyal didn't know who Azhar's cousin was, as he had never met her before. He walked into the guest room to find a young woman wearing a hijab with Aizah on the floor playing with her.
The little girl laughed and giggled at what the young woman was saying to her.
"Asalam Aleikum, can I have my daughter?" Tayyal asked, surprising her.
Hannah looked up to find a man standing at the door with his arms crossed. He didnt look angry, more like concerned as to why his daughter got along with the stranger.
Tayyal walked into the room and kneeled to take Aizah, but the little girl's hands were holding Hannah's dress and didnt want to let go.
"Waleikum salaam, sure, You can. Come on, Aizah, go to you father," Hannah said with a smile.
She slowly removed her dress from Aizah's hands so that her father could hold her.
"Thank you and I am sorry to have been rude to you..."
"Dont worry about it. I understand that you were concern about your daughter. I am a stranger to the both of you. My name is Hannah Waleed and I am Azhar's cousin," Hannah says, introducing herself.
"My name is Tayyal Hussein, Aizah's dad and Zoya's husband," he said.
"Well, it was nice to meet both of you. I will be going now. Excuse me," Hannah says, gathering her bag and walking out the door.
Aizah was fussy as she wanted to go with Hannah, but her father held her back.
"No Aizah. Now let's go and see you aunts so they explain to me why they would let a stranger hold you without my permission," Tayyal said and walked out to go find his sisters.
He found them saying goodbye to Hannah.
"I will let Aunt Hayat know when she and the family can come and visit. In shaa Allah. If you need anything don't hesistate to call me. Take care," Hannah says, hugging both Nour and Dahlia.
"Thank you for your help and I am sorry for everything. In shaa Allah everything will work out for you," Nour says.
After Hannah left, Tayyal called his sisters to the living room.
