"You Guys Are Lying To Me!!!" {Part One}
It has been almost a week since Zianna's surgery and Zoya's death.
No one dared to tell Zianna where her best friend and sister-in-law was. Whenever she would ask, someone would direct the topic to something else.
And this agitated Zianna as she knew that Zoya would always visit her. Whenever Zoya was busy, she would call Zianna and tell her about it.
"I know you guys are hiding something from me. And I want the truth, so you better tell me or I will have to find out for myself," Zianna says, sitting up straight on her bed. "Where is Zoya? And don't you dare lie or change the subject", she added, while her siblings looked at each other.
Tayyal knew that one way or another, Zianna had a right to know about Zoya's death and the heart inside her.
But how can I tell her that my wife, her best friend and sister-in-law died and gave her a heart?
"I am waiting. I am going to call her myself because she is the only one who can give me the truth..."
Zianna says, reaching for her phone to dial Zoya's number, but Tayyal stops her.
"I will explain everything but I need you to stay calm and don't forget that we love you, Zia", Tayyal says. "Zoya died and she gave you her heart..."
"Tay, if you are trying to scare me, that's not nice. Where is Zoya? Please tell me? I need to see her...please", Zianna says, tears threatening to fall from her eyes.
She then looked at her sisters, who had a sad look on their faces.
Zianna started shaking her head.
"You guys are lying to me. Where is Zoya? Don't..."
Tayyal held her down as she wanted to move out of bed to go outside the hospital room.
"Zia, you know that we won't lie to you, right? Zoya's last wish was to save you, and she did. She even made me promise that her heart will go to you after she dies", Tayyal explained, trying to keep calm, but deep inside he was still in pain from losing his wife.
"I don't want her heart. I want...I need her, Tay. Please don't lie to me. Please tell her to come and see me," Zianna said, trying to fight her brother to get out of bed. "Let me go. You guys are lying to me. Azhar, please tell me the truth? Where is Zoya?" She asked, turning to her husband, who didn't even know what to say.
Azhar moved towards her and took Tayyal's place. He then sat down and held his wife's hands.
"Zia, Zoya loved you like a sister. Her heart is beating inside you. I know that it is hard to accept it but it is the truth, Habibty. We are not lying to you. She saved your life," Azhar explained. "She won't want you to be sad about it. She would want you to live for her. I know that it won't be easy but this is part of life. And we all know that life isn't permanent as we want it to be," he added, hugging his wife.
"No, no, she can't be dead. What about Aizah? She will always ask for her mother..."
"Zia, she is fine, alhamdulilah. She has all of us to take care of her. She will be loved by everyone," Nour says, trying to calm her down.
I am sorry, dear sister. Sometimes the truth will always hurt, even if it is coated.
"I dont want her heart...I want her," Zianna said, crying in her husband's arms. "Please bring her back..."
Azhar nodded at Tayyal, who knew what to do.
He then walked out and came back with the nurse, who was holding a syringe.
Azhar slowly moved his wife's sleeve, and the nurse injected the syringe. He then slowly put his wife to sleep on the bed.
"This will calm her down. But when she wake up..."
"Yes, we understand nurse. But when will she be able to be discharged?" Nour asked.
"The doctor will be here shortly and he will answer all of your questions, excuse me," the nurse said and then walked out of the room.
"Zianna..."
"She will be fine. She has all of us with her including Aizah. We need to be strong," Tayyal said, moving closer to his sister's bed. "I made a promise and I intend to keep it. For Zianna, Zoya and Aizah," he added, wiping his tears.
"Tay, you dont need to be strong alone. We are here for you always. Dont think you will be alone with Aizah. She is our princess, always," Dahlia says, smiling. But deep inside, she knew that it would take more than just words to achieve being normal.
In the coming days, Zianna refused to believe that Zoya had died and needed proof of her death. Tayyal and Azhar knew that it would be hard for her to go to the cemetery to visit Zoya.
Tayyal would always go to his wife's grave before heading to visit Zianna. It became a ritual for him to do that every morning. Then he heads to work, but not after giving instructions to Nour to take care of Aizah.
"I need to see it for myself. The doctor..."
"Will be here in five minutes, Zia. We will take you to the cemetery to see Zoya's grave, but for now, calm down," Tayyal says, trying to keep his emotions inside.
I wish that everything were a dream, but I will need to accept the reality of life. Alhamdulilah.
After a few minutes, a knock interrupted Tayyal's thoughts. He went and opened the door to let the doctor inside so he could check on Zianna and discharge her.
"Hello, how are you doing Zianna? Do you feel any pains or discomfort?" The doctor asked.
"I am fine alhamdulilah. When can I leave?" Zianna asked. "I need to go and see Zoya. I need to see her," she added, looking at her husband and brother standing beside the doctor.
"I will discharge you, but you need to come for check-ups and a follow-up of your heart transplant. I will get the nurse to give you the discharge forms, and then your prescriptions will be ready at the pharmacy. Your husband can go and collect them," the doctor said and then turned to face Tayyal. "Take care of her and yourself too," he added, smiling sadly.
The doctor then walked out of the room. Thankfully, Nour and Dahlia had brought their sister some clothes for her to be discharged.
"Zia, you should get dressed while Tay and I go and clear the bill and get the prescription from the pharmacy," Azhar says to his wife.
Zianna nodded and smiled, knowing that she would go and see Zoya. Her best friend and sister.
Azhar and Tayyal walked out of the room, leaving Zianna to get dressed. As soon as they closed the door, Azhar turned to face Tay, whose eyes had unshed tears in them.
"I am sorry you had to go through this again. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now..."
"For Zianna, I will put aside my grief and fulfil the promise I made to Zoya. About protecting her whenever I can. We need to go and get her bill. I will go and pay the bill while you go to the pharmacy," Tayyal said.
Azhar nodded and walked in the opposite direction to the pharmacy, as he knew that the bill was already settled by his parents, as they didn't want Zianna to worry about it.
