Chapter Fifty-four: Dahlia’s First Meeting with Her Twin Brother Raed.

Two months later.

Who would have thought that I would be meeting my twin biological brother at the age of 22 years old? I was told he died when he was born, but everything my mother says is a lie. And now her lies are coming to the light.

Dahlia's thoughts were everywhere when she first told her mother she wanted nothing to do with her. Especially after what her father….Hussein told her.

Nadia tried so hard to get Dahlia to talk to her, even if it's just to listen to her side of the story.

There she was sitting at the cafe, waiting for Raed to show up. Meeting him was the first thing Dahlia wanted, especially when she wanted answers to why her mother did to them.

Dahlia couldn't help but remember the day when she said she was moving out of the house.

Nadia had tears in her eyes and begged her to stay, but everything that Dahlia witnessed her mother doing to Zianna or anyone else.

She just couldn't be a part of it.

Flashback.

“Sometimes, lying won't get you to the life you want, mother. You lied to me for my entire life, and on top of it, you gave up my brother and kept me away from home. What for? For your ego? I know that Dad…Hussein hurt you by marrying another wife, but you still didn't have the right to do the things you did to her. To Aunt Hania. She was innocent in all of this,” Dahlia said to her mother. “There's a saying: ‘You reap what you sow’. Everything that you have done has consequences, and one of them is losing me”, she added, walking out of the door with her bags.

As Dahlia walked out of the house, she could hear her mother yelling at her to stop.

Even though her heart ached, this was much needed, especially when all her life had been a lie.

Her birth.

Her biological father.

Her twin brother, whom she met as someone else.

Taking a deep breath, Dalia got into her car and drove to her final destination.

The apartment she rented was near Zianna and Tayyal’s homes.

End of flashback.

After a few days, Dahlia's mind wasn't at ease, especially when she kept receiving messages from her mother about family. But she knew one thing, and that's to go and meet her brother, even though they have met a few times as Zoya's cousin.

Poor Zoya. Being dragged into drama when she is in her 8th month of her pregnancy.

Dahlia took a sip of her cold coffee when she heard the cafe door open, indicating someone was coming inside.

She looked up to see it was Raed, and he was walking toward her.

“Asalam Aleikum. I am…”

"Waleikum Salaam. I know who you are. You don't need to reintroduce yourself. Have a seat, please”, Dahlia said, interrupting him. “I am sorry that I came on a bit harsh, but I don't know who I can…”

“Trust? Yes, I understand that. And don't worry, I am not like our mother, even though she tried to brainwash me into hurting Zianna. I am sorry about your father. I am sorry that I didn't come sooner and stop everything”, Raed tells her.

Dahlia nodded, not trusting her voice.

“We can't duel in the past. We can move on from it. But there's one thing I want to know about our mother's affair with…”

“I understand. His wife was still alive when they started the affair. She was sick with Cancer. She was undergoing treatment, but the doctors weren't that hopeful…”

Dahlia couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her mother ruined her friend’s marriage without feeling guilty doing it.

She watched as Raed gave the details of everything that happened, including the day he found out that he wasn't Zoya's cousin but her younger brother.

“I wanted so badly to tell you, but I couldn't do it. Nadia started telling me that it was not the time yet to let you know about how we are related. I am sorry, Dahlia. You had to go through everything with her”, Raed says.

“Are you going to testify against him?” She asked.

“Yes, I will. I need to do it for the sake of Zianna and everyone they have hurt. But the sad thing is that Nadia will get away with it and Qassim will take the blame for everything she had done”, he says, shaking his head.

“But we also can't let her get away with everything she has done to Zianna. We need to do something to get her to confess everything she has done. But how will we do it?” Dahlia asked.
Raed knew what to do, but he didn't want anyone to get hurt. Plus, he already had enough evidence to put both Nadia and Qassim in jail. But was he ready for that?
No, they aren't your parents. Your parents are the people who loved, cared and raised you. They didn't abandon you when you were a baby.
“I can do something, but I don't want anyone to get hurt…”
“I understand that, but we can't let her hurt anyone else. She might be put on house arrest or something,” Dahlia said, but changed her mind as she thought that she was becoming like her. Like Nadia, and she didn't want to. “Let's just forget about it. Let Kifrah take care of that. I don't want to hurt anyone else”, she added, making Raed proud of her.
Even though she was raised by her, they are two different people. But she wasn't raised by her. Nadia dropped her off at the boarding school when she was barely a teenager.
“I am happy to have found you, dear sister. But now I need to leave before she gets to know about this meeting. I don't want her to hurt you, that's why I am leaving,, but you know my number. Call me anytime if you need anything”, Raed said, smiling. “We should keep in touch, Dahlia,” he added, smiling.
“Yes, we should. I am glad that I found you. It's not that I am ungrateful about having Tayyal as my brother, but there's…”
“Something is missing in your life, a part of you. I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same way when I was young. Alhamdulilah, we found each other”, he added.
As the two talked, Nadia watched with tears in her eyes.
She was happy that her two kids were finally reunited, but something was still missing in her life.
I don't regret having you two. But I do regret what I did. I don't know if it's too late to apologise to my family.
