The Revelation Of Everything. (Part two).
"She didn't want this. My wife wanted to donate her heart to my sister Zianna..."
The doctor looked at Azhar as if he had lost his mind. But unfortunately, he lost his wife, who had given him consent to donate her heart to his sister.
"She asked me to record our conversation about donating her heart to my sister Zianna. Here is the full recording," he says, playing the last few moments of his wife. "Is this evidence enough for you to proceed with my sister's transplant?" He asked.
"We still need you to sign the permission document authorising us to give your wife's heart to your sister," the doctor said while asking one of the nurses to bring the consent form from the reception.
Within minutes, Zoya's body was wheeled into the same operating room as Zianna to start the operation.
End of Flashback.
Azhar and Tayyal sat on one of the chairs waiting for the doctor to come out of the operating room.
"Thank you for this, Tay. Zianna and I will forever be indebted to you. We will do anything..."
"No need to say thank you. This is what Zoya would want. Zianna was more than her sister-in-law, she was her best friend. And Zianna is my sister, she deserves to be happy," Tayyal says. "Now let's focus on the future. Where everyone is happy and healthy," he added.
But deep down, both of them knew that things were about to change for them.
Meanwhile, Nour was at home with Aizah, who was currently sitting in her bassinet, kicking her small feet.
"Where could Zoya be? I should call her and ask", she said to herself.
As soon as Nour took her phone, dialling Zoya's number, that's when Dahlia's number flashed on her screen.
"Asalam Aleikum, Dahlia..."
"Waleikum Salaam. There's something I need to tell you, but first sit down", Dahlia tells her sister.
"What's wrong, Dahlia? Is it Zianna?..."
"No, Zianna has received a heart but it's from someone we know", Dahlia says, explaining everything to Nour. "Zoya died a few minutes ago and gave her consent for her heart to be donated to Zianna in front of Tayyal", she added, sniffling on the phone.
"No, you are lying, Dahlia. Please tell me that this is a lie. Please tell me that Aizah didn't just lose her mother at three months old? Dahlia, please tell me that everything is a dream?..."
"I wish it were all a dream. A lie but it's the truth. Zianna is currently in the operating room getting Zoya's heart..."
Nour looked at Aizah, who was all smiling and giggling without knowing the tragedy that had just happened.
Her mother's death.
"Where is Tay? Does he know about Zoya?" Nour asked.
"Nour, he was there at her last moments and even recorded their last conversation as consent to donate her heart to Zianna. I saw the blood on him. She couldn't be saved Nour," Dahlia says. "Now we need to be strong for Zianna, Tay and also Aizah. We can't break down in front of them. They need our support and love", she added.
"You are right. I will come by the hospital to see Tay but..."
"I will be there to take care of Aizah while you are here. We are in this together as a family. Exactly as Zianna always wanted but this time without Zoya", Dahlia says. "I will call you back, I think the doctor is about to talk to Tay and Azhar about the operation," she added, before hanging up.
Nour looked at the picture frame of Zoya, Tayyal and Aizah.
A family.
Now, a little girl lost her mother because someone didn't know how to drive properly.
Nour then looked at Aizah with tears flowing freely.
She picked her up, and Aizah put her hands on her face, squishing it.
"I promise to always be there for you no matter what, princess. To be your protector. To be your confidant", Nour says, kissing Aizah's forehead, making her smile. "You won't know the bad memories of this family, just happy ones. And if anyone tries to bully you, come to me and I will show them what it's like to bully my princess", she added, hugging Aizah.
At the hospital, the doctor spoke to both Tay and Azhar about the operation.
"Alhamdulilah, the operation has been successful. The nurse just shifted Zianna to the recovery room while Zoya was being prepared to be taken to the funeral home..."
"No need for that, Doctor. I will be taking my wife and preparing her burial for tomorrow. She won't want this", Tayyal says, interrupting the doctor. "We will have the funeral tomorrow", he added.
"As you wish Mr Hussein. Your wife's body is in the morgue now. You can take it from there. And as for Zianna, wait until the nurse comes and takes you to see her", the doctor says. "I will take your leave now, excuse me", he added, leaving the waiting room.
Azhar put his hand on Tayyal's shoulder and looked at him with sadness in his eyes.
"My family will also help you in any way we can..."
"What will I tell our daughter when she grows up? When she asks about her mother?"...
"You will tell her that Zoya was beautiful, caring, loving and brave. She was a warrior who didn't let any injustice win. She helped people even if they didn't deserve it. Aizah will know her mother as someone who loved her unconditionally", a voice said behind them.
When they turned to see who it was, they weren't shocked to see Nour standing there with tears flowing freely from her eyes. "Aizah will be loved by everyone. I promise you she will never lack a mother figure in her life. And if she asks about Zoya, I will gladly tell her that she is the most amazing woman that I have ever met", she added.
"Thank you for everything, Nour. Now I need to call everyone about her death and plan for her funeral tomorrow," Tayyal says.
"We will do that together, as a family. Not you alone, big brother," Nour replies. "But we can't tell Zianna just yet. She is still in a fragile state. We will need to wait for some time to tell her everything," she added, looking at Azhar, who nodded, agreeing with her.
"Yes, you're right. Zianna needs to recover before revealing anything to her," Azhar agreed.
Nour sent her father a message about Zoya's death and everything that happened. She didn't want to call her mother, who would blame Zianna for getting Zoya's heart, even if there was consent given.
But unfortunately, she also needed to know, with a sigh, Nour decided to send her mother the same message regarding Zoya's death and what happened.
I just hope that Mom has changed when it comes to Zianna. And not make a spectacle about it. Ya Allah, give my brother patience and support that he will need. And don't change him into a heartless person. And baby Aizah, give her a mother who will love her. Ameen.
The nurse came to inform them that they could go and see Zianna in her room.
"Tay, go ahead and see her first. I will come after you," Azhar says.
"I can't do that..."
"You have a right to see her, Tay. You are her protector, her guardian, and most importantly, you are her big brother who never let her down", Azhar said, smiling.
"Okay, I will go and see her. But I still need to..."
"I understand and remember that you are not alone in this. You have everyone, including my family, to support you in everything. Don't ever say you are alone, Tay. Now, go and see her", Azhar says, knowing what Tayyal was trying to tell him.
The funeral preparation would drain him. He would bury his wife, and his daughter won't even remember her.
Tayyal quickly wiped his tears and followed the nurse to Zianna's room.
Death can come at any moment, any second, to the old, young, the sick and even the healthy. It doesn't knock and announce itself to you so you can get ready to meet it. Death is something that no one is ever prepared for, even if it isn't yours, but either a family member or even friends.
