What are you doing here? Re:Zero hasn't ended yet.
What? I said that I wouldn't publish anything?
Nonono, you see, that's where you're wrong. I said the series is going to be finished in a couple of years. Not that I wouldn't make any new chapters.
Anyway, with that out of the way, enjoy your one-in-a-blue-moon chapter.
"Aaaand, it's this one."
Subaru touched a monolith, after which the room we were in started to transform.
The white was slowly changed by the vast view of a library.
"What a fascinating mechanism. As expected of the Sage."
With Reinhard's comment, Cylob started walking around, looking at all the books.
He picked a random one and opened it.
Cylob: "Yep, works the same as I remember it."
Since he didn't know the person personally, he didn't see the memories.
With the knowledge that this world is different from the Re:Zero he knows, he now had to check things like that to make sure they went unchanged.
Well, considering only one thing changed, there's probably not many other changes, but it's mostly for my peace of mind.
Subaru: "That was quite bold of you, considering how much you warned us about messing with these."
Cylob: "I am willing to go at least that far. In the first place, I feel like it'll be hard for me to lose myself."
After the whole Shadow fiasco, his sense of self has become really steady. It felt like a rebirth that reaffirmed who he was.
It's to the point that I feel like Cylob is now my name.
Before, when Gluttony tried to eat his name and memories, he had failed because Cylob was a made up name.
But now... he wasn't quite sure how that interaction would end.
Subaru: "Really? Do you think I could take it?"
Cylob: "That's iffy, but I think it's possible for the current you."
Subaru had seen Meili's book in Re:Zero, and that dealt heavy damage to his psyche. But that was the Subaru that lost his memories. If it is the normal Subaru, he would probably end up fine.
Cylob: "I wouldn't recommend taking that risk though."
Subaru nodded.
Subaru: "I can't help but feel curious, but I'll try to hold back."
Not being curious was impossible when you're faced with the ability to look at another's past. Even Reinhard will have at least one thought about it.
Cylob's eyes caught a book. A book written in a different language from everything else here.
Cylob: "Haha. That's one hell of a confirmation."
Subaru followed Cylob's gaze and saw a book written in a weird language.
Subaru: "That's from earth, right? Do you know what language is that?"
Cylob took the book into his hands.
Cylob: "Of course I do, it's my homeland's language."
In this world, for some reason, Cylob could understand everyone, even though logically in Re:Zero everyone speaks japanese. But he was not speaking and understanding in his home's language, he was doing it in English. In other words, he hadn't used and seen his home's language since coming to this world.
