“I’m counting on you Tim.”

I hung up after Riddler did and put my phone in my pocket.

“God it’s cold out here.” I pulled my jacket tighter around me and blew warm air onto my gloved hands.

“You ok Tim?” Next to me Mark stood doing the same.

I laughed at how much he was shivering.

“I’m fine.” I grinned, “What about you? Still have all of your fingers?”

He laughed.

“At least my cheeks aren’t as red as my hair.”

“No but they’re close.”

I went around the corner leaving Mark jumping up and down to try and keep warm.

“Why does it have to be so cold here it’s not like this is where Freeze lives.” I heard him complain.

I climbed over a fence to take a look at the building on the other side; it was a warehouse that used to sell those creepy dolls where one’s body was coming out of the other one’s waist. There wasn’t much here anymore but I saw someone in the distance standing at the front of the warehouse. I took a pair of cheap binoculars from my leg pocket and took a look; he was dressed like a clown, no a jester with a huge smile painted on his face.

He looked in my direction and I ducked behind a pile of dirt hoping he didn’t see me, and when I felt I had enough time I jumped back over the fence as quickly as I could.

“Mark.” I whispered, “This is it Quinn’s held up in the warehouse here.”

Mark didn’t respond.

I ran to the corner and stopped.

“The boss sent me here to try and find the Scarecrow.”

“Is anyone else with you?”

I took a peek; Mark was on his knees with a gun held to his head by Quinn, a slight bit of blood was coming from his forehead so she must have hit him with the gun.

“N-no I’m the only one.” He was still shaking but for a different reason this time.

I could pretty much hear the smirk on her face as she laughed.

“Well now that you’ve found my hiding place what should I do with you?”

“W-we only want the Scarecrow if you just let me take him back to the Boss then you’ll never be bothered again.”

Quinn laughed again.

“If I let you have him then I’ll never find my Puddin’.”

A rough hand gripped my shoulder and I was flung forward from my hiding place and a foot was placed on my back.

Quinn had turned sharply and was now crouching in front of me looking down at me.

“So there is another one.” She hit the top of my head with the butt of her gun.

“Riddler sent two boys to come and find me well I’ll show him what happens to rabbits that stray too far from the burrow.” She began to kick me in the side of the chest and hit me with the gun.

Anyone who assumed that girls can’t kick were dead wrong as she broke one of my ribs with her boot.

“Stop it.” Mark shouted.

Quinn did stop and she turned to face him.

“And what if I did?”

“We know where the Joker is.” He said desperately, “I’ll tell you if you let us go.”

“Where is he?” She kneeled in front of him with her gun to his head, “tell me and I won’t pull the trigger.”

“H-he’s at.”

“Don’t tell her!” I shouted with as much strength as I could.

Mark looked at me scared.

“Tell me or I’ll shoot your friend.”

I was yanked to my knees and could feel the pain from my broken ribs, she turned and aimed the gun at my chest.

“Don’t tell her Mark.”

I saw her finger slowly begin to pull the trigger.

“You have five seconds.” She shouted.

“Five.”

“Four.”

“Three.”

“Two.”

“One.”

Mark was one his feet and sprinted towards me just as she pulled the trigger.

The gun fired.

And Mark fell to his knees in front of me and then onto the ground, blood pouring from his left shoulder. In the back of my mind I could see Quinn adjusting her aim and pull the trigger.
