All I could hear in the radio in Jokers car was reports on a police chase involving the Joker and the ‘poor kidnapped woman’. To be perfectly honest I found it hilarious.
Joker laughed as he turned the radio off.
“Looks like getting there is going to be a bit more interesting then I’d hoped.”
“Where exactly are we going?”
I caught him looking at me from the corner of his eyes.
“Like I told you I think I know where to find your brother.”
“Which is where?” I rolled my eyes.
“Wait and see.” He grinned.
So far tonight I’d been surprised twice; firstly how good a driver Joker could be when he was trying not to stand out, whenever I saw a police chase involving him he was always swerving all over the road like a madman but tonight he was even sticking to the speed limit. The second thing that surprised me was how long it took the police to track down a car driven by the Joker it was at least twenty minutes before I saw a single police car.
I looked in the rear view mirror to see if any were finally chasing us and low and behold I saw three police cars following five or six meters behind us.
“Looks like we’ve got company.”
Joker looked in the rear view mirror too and grinned.
I held on the to the arm rest for dear life as the calm, collected, road safe Joker was thrown out the window and we were swerving all over the road, going around corners on two wheels and endangering the general public.
“Are you alright?”
I looked at the Joker, who to my horror was staring at me while going 100km/h.
“Yes!” I yelled my voice full of panic, “Now keep your eyes on the road.”
He laughed in an amused, insane way but thankfully he did direct his eye back to the road.
After much turning of corners and insane driving I was ready to throw up. But thankfully the police had given up on chasing us and we’d lost them.
“We’ve lost them can we please slow down now?”
“I thought you liked going fast.” He laughed.
“Only when I’m driving.”
“What you don’t trust me?”
I didn’t answer.
Joker laughed but slowed down all the same.
“Where nearly there anyway.”
It was as if those words summoned him from the pits of Gotham. Batman dropped from the sky onto the front of the car. I yelled; part out of shock at seeing the Batman drop from the sky and part from the fear of crashing as Joker swerved off the road and into the wall of a building.
I touched my head to see if it was bleeding.
“You ok?”
I pulled my hand back from my forehead pleased to see no blood.
“I’m fine,” I looked at Joker. “Are you ok?”
He was holding his head but other than that didn’t seem too damaged.
“Yeah I’m fine.”
Police sirens quickly caught up with us and steadily grew louder.
“We’d better get out of here.” He tried to start the car.
Jokers door was yanked open and he was dragged out and thrown onto the ground and dragged out of my line of sight.
The police sirens stopped and I heard running feet advancing towards the car.
My car door was opened and I was grabbed below the elbow and pulled out of the car. Police and SWAT vans surrounded the car, all guns trained in on us. I was walked around the car to where the Joker was being pinned to the ground and handcuffs were being placed on his wrists, he was dragged up so he was kneeling and I was forced down next to him by the young police officer handling me.
“We’ve got them.” He spoke into a walkie-talkie.
Rolling my eyes I looked at Joker next to me.
“Alright got it.” The young police officer ended his conversation with the walkie-talkie. “We’ve got to bring them it.”
Everyone started moving at once.
Joker and I were roughly pulled to our feet and more or less dragged to the SWAT van. I was seated between two SWATS, Joker was opposite me, same conditions but he was handcuffed to the seat.
