I was woken up by the sound of quiet moving around and a sick popping sound; I was slumped over the kitchen table with the Ipod head-phones laying away from my ear.
“You’re a light sleeper.” Remarked a high light-ish voice on the other side of the room, “I was trying to be quite.”
I smirked and sat up, the Joker was moving towards me but keeping in the shadows, he was limping heavily and was trying to hide it but other than that didn’t look too bad.
“Years of practise.” I said not taking my eyes off him as he slowly approached, he felt around his pockets for something and I smirked, “looking for this?” I held out his knife and he looked at me with interest, and then pouted.
“You changed.” He said like a stubborn child, I looked at him confused.
“Excuse me?”
“You looked nice in that dress.” He said with a wide smile, I kept my eyes on him as he pulled out the chair opposite me and sat down.
I smirked and brushed some hair out of my face.
“So do tell why I shouldn’t just call the police and have you taken away like any other sane person would.” I picked up his knife and twirled it between my fingers.
“Because you’re not like any other sane person.”
“Hmm true but Harley Quinn’s after you and I’m not about to end up on her hit list.”
The Joker was silent as he watched me absent-mindedly play with his knife.
“What’s your name?”
His question took me by surprise and I almost answered.
“Raven.” I answered as I placed his knife in the middle of the table.
A smirk appeared on his scared lips and he reached over, taking his knife off the table and holding it in his hand.
“You’re very trusting.” His voice turned to one of mischief as he continued to eye me, now twirling his knife between his fingers. “Taking the Joker into your house and letting him rest.”
I shrugged, leaning forward.
He leaned forward too so that we were inches apart and placed the flat of his knife of my cheek.
“Now that I’m here I could do anything I wanted to you.”
I smiled sweetly and got my own knife out of my jeans pocket in one swift movement.
“I’m not that worried.” I grabbed his arm and pushed my thumb into the muscle, while holding my knife to his neck.
He laughed.
“I like you.” Joker smiled wider, taking his knife away from my cheek.
I smiled and withdrew my knife too, leaning back in my seat.
I looked at the clock on the wall and sighed. It was four thirty, which meant that I had eight hours before I had a ten hour shift at Ally Cats.
I yawned.
“Hehe.” The Joker smiled cheekily at me, “time for little Raven to go to sleep.”
I shook my head.
“Not while you’re here.” I scoffed.
I shook my head and rubbed my eyes to try and keep myself awake.
He pouted.
“Don’t be like that.” He got up and came around to me, “I won’t hurt you.”
I got up from my chair and backed towards the wall, damn I hate when I’m tired I can’t think straight.
“How can I trust you?”
He stood in front of me and blocked me into the corner of the kitchen. He reached up and lightly stroked my cheek with his hand. My breath caught in my throat and I felt a sick feeling in my stomach.
“Because I’m a man of my word.” His voice went deep and his hazel eyes went darker. His hand moved under my cheek and he stroked my neck
I frowned, it was no use fighting the inevitable and I was too tired to care if he killed me.
“You win.” I sighed.
He removed his hand and let me walk away from the wall. I knew he was smiling without even having to look.
“Good girl.” A hand was placed on my shoulder, “now go to sleep little Raven.”
I moved towards the door leading to my bed room, Joker was following behind me. As I moved into my room I fell into my bed not caring that the Joker was watching me.
“Sleep well little Raven.” His high voice cooed as I fell asleep.
‘God am I crazy, I’m going to sleep with the Joker in the house.’ I couldn’t help but smile somewhat.
