"I thought you hated hugs" , I voiced out as he wrapped his arms ever so gently around me.

The first thing I felt was the pounding in my skull.
A slow, insistent throb that made every blink feel like too much effort. My mouth was dry, my body heavy like someone had replaced all my bones with wet sand.
I groaned softly and tried to roll over, but the sheets tangled around my legs. The fabric was softer than mine, smoother and the faint scent that clung to it made my heart lurch before my mind could catch up.
For a long moment, I just lay there, blinking at the slant of sunlight cutting through the curtains. The room was bright but unfamiliar - familiar enough to hurt. I'd been here before, many times.

Veer's T-shirt hung loose on me, soft cotton brushing mid-thigh, smelling like him. That clean, crisp scent that had every right to make my pulse race every hour of the day. His track pants were too big, tied hastily at my waist, the hem puddled around my ankles. I looked ridiculous and small and, for some reason, heartbreakingly safe.
A quiet panic rippled through me.
Why was I in his clothes and his bed?
And then, like a cruel movie , flashes from the night before started to play. Me at the bar, slurring something stupid, texting Veer, him coming at the bar, his voice, low and sharp, cutting through the noise, his hand steadying me as I stumbled, the cold air hitting my face, him bringing me to his house, my stomach turning, the humiliating blur of throwing up, his palm against my back, his voice soothing, patient, too kind for what I deserved.
I shut my eyes, groaning. "Oh god. I didn't... please tell me I didn't say anything stupid."
But even as I said it, a flicker of memory teased the edges of my mind .
