Bitten

I awoke in the middle of the night from the screams that escaped my mothers lips. I knew that scream all too well. My step dad was drunk and upset over something stupid. I sat up in my bed and covered my ear. Her screams were too painful to hear.

"Where's that stupid girl!" He screamed

"Leave her out of it!" My mother screamed back

I jumped out of my bed and heard the door swing open. I looked and saw that awful smile perched upon his face. A smiled that meant pain was coming. I tried to make a break for the window,but he grabbed my hair and swung me onto the ground. I groaned in pain.

"Like you were actually gonna get away." He managed to get out.

"Let her go!" My mother pleaded

"Get out!" He screamed

He slightly let go of my hair. Big mistake on his part. I shifted my body and kicked his feet from underneath him, which knocked him unconscious.

I looked at my mother and scrambled to my feet. She looked at me then smacked me across my face. I fell back to the ground in amazement with tears filling my eyes.

"Ashley i-" she mumbled

"Get out!" I screamed "And take your husband with you!"

She hesitated but did as i told her to. When they were out of sight i slammed my door shut and locked it. I walked over to my bed and reached underneath the mattress. I pulled out a small blade and slit my arm. I laid back and let the blade hit the floor.

I crying until I slowly drifted to sleep.

The next morning I awoke from the sound of trucks next door. I groaned, jumped out of the bed, and peered out my Window.
