Staring into the familiar blue eyes that always captivated her, she wondered why the blonde hair that was similar to hers had now become… brown

“Alex…” she breathed.

He smiled in response. The smile lightened his features and it warmed his eyes.

“Your hair…” she continued. He steadied her but his arms didn’t leave her waist. “Yeah, I dyed it.”

“Why?” she whispered as she stared at the nice brown color. Alex looked more… attractive. His dark hair now supported his attitude and made him look more like a delinquent. They went well with his deep blue eyes and the smile on his ravishing face made Raysa’s heart race.

He shrugged, “No reason.”

She reached for his hair and ran her fingers through them, unaware of the effect it had on him. She still missed his blonde hair but it didn’t matter much as long as Alex was still Alex to her. She just stared at him and now both hands were running through his newly colored hair.

He tried to ignore the urge to kiss her soft lips and just let her soothe him. “What are you doing here?” he asked softly.

“I got worried about you taking off at lunch so I came here right after school…” she said. She tilted her head. “Why did you leave so suddenly?”

“I had something to do.”

“And that something is to dye your hair?” she raised a brow.

“No, I just decided to dye my hair after that something…

She narrowed her eyes suspicion, “Why won’t you tell me anything anymore?”

“I don’t know what you mean.”

“You know exactly what I mean,” she said. Alex saw the stubborn set of her chin and the determination in her eyes to get him to tell her. He didn’t want to tell her. She’d only worry and stress over it instead of just focusing on their music. She was already nervous about the talent show and telling her about his crappy father will only add to her worries. He needed to distract her. He reached out and curled her hair in his finger. “Your hair’s getting longer.”

She blinked, “You’re changing the subject again.” She pouted.

Still he just smiled that charming lazy smile of his and said, “I’d love it if you grew it longer.”

Somehow she forgot about her question and blinked, “You don’t like it short?” She suddenly asked surprised that he wanted it long.

He smiled but tried desperately to hide the victory he felt in succeeding in distracting her. He played with her hair and gazed into her eyes fondly. “I prefer it long but you look cute in either.”

She stared at him thoughtfully before sighing tiredly. She lowered her hands along with her gaze. She stood there in his arms staring at his chest. “Why don’t you tell me anything anymore…” she said sadly. He saw the sad expression on her lovely face. He wanted to tell her there and then but his phone suddenly rang. Without lifting her eyes to his face she said, “Not answering?”

Alex wished he had thrown the damn thing away or given it to the beggar he passed in the streets. He would’ve liked to see the look on his father’s face when a nitwit answered the phone instead of his stubborn son.

It rang once, twice, trice… Raysa lifted her face to his and raised a brow. “Want me to answer it?” she suggested.

He pulled away and dug his hand in his pocket then answered the call. “What?” he said in a casual voice.
