Leaning against the wall with his phone in his hand, he sent a text to his girlfriend and exhaled tiredly. His eyes went to the people passing by him. A girl caught his random gaze and she smiled invitingly at him. He gave a small answering smile before he turned and went to walk around.
Ryan raked a hand through his hair and wondered when anyone of his friends would ever get there. He sat at one of the benches and scanned the messages from his phone. Kayla was still mad. And a smile appeared on his face as he reread some of her messages.
No, I am not jealous. That’s just stupid.
Hey I only asked why you were with Trish!
Liar, Trish’s a slut who imagines you without your clothes on.
I already told you I’m not jealous! Would you just tell me why you were with her?!
Right, fine, whatever, moron.
She was jealous, he mused. Even though they were dating, she had never really been the one to say ‘I love you’. And he was enjoying the fact that she was affected by all this. Despite how they seem all sweet, Ryan knew he was the only one who was actually taking things seriously. Kayla was just dating him because… well he still didn’t know why she agreed. But he liked her. Really liked her. And he wanted her to feel the same.
His thoughts then drifted to something else. He felt a little jealous about Alex’ relationship with Raysa. He wanted that look in Raysa’s face whenever she looked at Alex. He wanted Kayla to give him that look. A smile appeared on his face again as he thought about the funny way Alex always softened whenever Raysa was near him.
Speaking of Raysa… Ryan’s eyes caught sight of her as she passed through the gate. Her ash blonde hair had grown a little longer and was gently touching her shoulders. Her lovely eyes didn’t notice him and it looked like she was deep in thought. Ryan wondered where Alex could be. And who was the dude next to his best friend’s girl?
“Yo Raysa!” He got up and started strolling towards her, eager to know who she was with so that he could report it to Alex. But then the dude said, “Mornin’ Ryan.” Raysa just murmured her greeting and went back to her thoughts.
Ryan stopped short, confusion visible on his face, “Uh, do I know you?” he said, squinting his eyes a little.
The guy grinned, “I don’t know. Do you?” he mused.
Ryan studied him. He had brown hair, but then Ryan saw those mocking blue eyes and that know-it-all smirk that always appeared when he was annoying someone. He blinked. “Holy shit…”
The guy burst out laughing, “You should’ve seen the look on your face man.”
“Dude! What happened to your hair?” Ryan asked.
“You tell me,” he said sarcastically.
“He dyed it,” Raysa said.
“Why?”
Raysa turned to Alex as well, “Yeah, tell us Alex. Why?”
Alex gave her a cocky grin, “To hide.”
“Hide?” Ryan asked, confused again. But he saw that Raysa seemed to get the meaning.
“It’s nothing Ryan. So why isn’t Kayla with you?” he asked. Ryan forgot how sharp he was at noticing things.
“Yeah, where’s Kayla?” Raysa asked glancing around to look for Ryan’s girlfriend.
“Dunno,” he shrugged. Somehow, his answer bothered Raysa, but Alex seemed like he didn’t care.
