Later that night...

It may not have scream-rained again, but RocKandy stayed a while longer at Loona's apartment until it was Balin's bedtime.

The little boy got into his usual McDonald's pyjamas and brushed his teeth, before walking out to see his two hound friends in front of him.

"Aww. They still fit." smiled Candy.

"Still?" Loona asked in surprise.

"Yeah, I remember those little PJs too." she explained. "I know that... sparkly, human stuff from anywhere. What is it again...? Uhh..."

"Glitter?" Balin tried to respond.

"Nah-uh-uh, no more thinking tonight." Roc cutely reprimanded, lifting the little boy into her arms like a baby. "Yay, bedtime!"

Normally Loona would speak up (growl, even) if someone she didn't feel like trusting as much would pick up the little boy like that. But this time, she knew that despite being a demon arms and 'hind' legs, she still used to be Balin's pet.

"...He can walk?" Was all she could say about it.

RocKandy swayed her way into Balin's room where Teddy and Chick flapped about, and she stroked their little stuffed chins with one of her claws before laying the boy down in his bed.

"She does have a point, Meal." Loona walked into his room next, her ears lowered and arms crossed as Roc pulled up the blanket. "You do have that Ozzy performance ahead of you now."

"Yeah. Good luck for tomorrow!" the other adult puppy cooed, sitting down on his bed.

"Thank you." Balin replied in a yawn. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry you can't come."

"It's okay..." Candy rubbed his head in response. "I have a feeling we'll be seeing each other again some time soon."

"We will?" Balin smiled as she nodded, before he then asked; "Then... Can you please howl me to sleep before you go? I love how you used to do that every bedtime."

"Oh, darling." Roc's ears lowered, but her heart was touched. "Can you keep a secret?" she moved her muzzle closer to the boy's ear. "I actually have puppies of my own back home, so they'll probably be expecting me."

"You do?!" Balin's eyes darted open happily.

Giggling at his reaction, Roc started rubbing his eyes until they became tired again.

"Maybe they could 'see you again some time soon' too." she smiled.

The more his eyes shut, the quieter Balin spoke. "...That sounds nice..." he yawned again.

"Sleep well, pup."

She tickled his ear with her muzzle before rubbing the boy's head once again.

Her ears lowered and muzzle silent, Loona watched the scene; not taking her puppy eyes off the sweet moment for a second. She wanted to be proud, but couldn't shake the instinct of still feeling a little jealous.
