“Well?” she said.
“I don’t mean to treat you like that. It really killed me to leave you when we were eight years old. I loved being with you. I loved holding you when you cried. Everything. Then when I left, I was sure you didn’t want to talk to me ever again. So when I was told that I was coming back, I got all excited. Then when I saw you that first day freshman year, you had changed so much from what I remembered, it kind of scared me. Every time you would try and talk to me, it killed me not to answer you. So instead of taking you in, I decided to push you away. That hurt me even more. I don’t hate you; I don’t like treating you like scum. I don’t, I don’t, I don’t. I am not going to do it anymore. Please forgive me for all that I have done to you. Please?” I said sincerely.
When she finally looked at me, I could tell she was crying. Oh my god, I made her cry. I ran over to her and held her in my arms; it felt so good to finally be able to do that.
“I…I forgive you fray-fray.”
Oh my god, I hadn’t heard that name in sooooooo long. She used to call me that when we were younger. I can’t believe she remembered.
I scooped her up in my arms and twirled her around. I was so happy at that moment, I completely forgot about the whole marriage thing. I just wanted her there in my arms forever.
“Can you let me go now? I need to breathe,” she said laughing.
“Oh…yeah. So do you have everything you need? All your clothes, makeup, accessories? Everything?”
“Umm I think so,” she said looking around the room then she ran into the closet.
“Here, I forgot this,” she said holding up a blue teddy bear with a colorful bow.
I recognized it instantly. I had won that out of those crane machines when we were younger.
“Mr. Boo Boo right? I can’t believe you still have him.”
“He meant a lot to me so I kept him.”
“Ellie, Frankie, it is time to leave.”
We grabbed my bags and headed downstairs to where our parents were waiting.
“Do you have everything?” her mother asked.
I saw her shake her head.
“Well then let’s go eat, I am starving,” my father said.
Ellie and I walked outside and over to my car. I put her bags into the trunk.
“Where are we meeting? I asked.
“Oh the new Italian restaurant on the corner of sixth street. Just follow us.”
I nodded and went over to my car again. I could tell Ellie was staring at it.
“Ready?”
Ellie POV
“Ready?”
I brought my head up and was met by Frankie’s eyes. I just nodded. I was too shocked for words. I kept replaying what he said to me in my room. That’s when it hit me; I was in love with Frankie.
