*FF 3 months*
So I did my four days of suspension without big complaints. I mostly did homework and chilled with Frankie. I had also finally gotten around to talking to my boss, Mary. After I had come back to school, I was informed that Amy had decided “for her safety” to transfer to another school. I had said good riddance. Frankie and I had been doing well. Dusty and Torie were finally going out and were doing splendid. Mitch and Will had hit some rough patches but were working everything out. It was the week after thanksgiving and we were getting ready for our second trimester. Everyone was hanging out in the gym when the principal walked in.
“God, I hate assemblies,” Torie groaned.
“Well it is our annual holiday assembly.”
Torie rolled her eyes and put her iPod in.
*30 minutes later*
The assembly was finally over and we were allowed to leave. I was happy because I had an essay to write and a huge math test to study for.
“Well babe, I have a bunch of homework to do but I will make dinner about 6:30.”
“Well I have to go to work so I won’t be home until late.”
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that Frankie had gotten a night janitors job at my father’s office building.
“Oh okay well have fun. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
So Frankie left for work and I started on my homework. Around 6:30 I made dinner. After dinner, I worked on my homework some more until I got a call around 9:30.
“Is this Ellie Dunham?”
“Yes it is. May I ask whose calling?”
“Yes this is Dr. Drummond and I am calling on behalf of Frankie Johnsen.”
“Oh my god, is he okay? What happened? Where is he?”
“He will be fine. It appears he was beaten up. He is at St. Christian’s hospital.”
“Oh god. I will be there shortly.”
I grabbed my purse and keys and rushed down to my car. On the way there, I called my father and he told me he was at the hospital all ready. I sped up and made it to the hospital in record time. I rushed in and saw my father pacing.
“Dad! Where is he?”
“Oh he is upstairs in room 502.”
“What happened?”
“Well they wouldn’t tell me much here but I called work and they told me that a young man slipped past security while a woman distracted the security guard. This man found Frankie and proceeded to kick the crap out of him.”
I started bawling and I ran towards the elevator. I got up to the fifth floor and found room 502 pretty quickly. There was a doctor in the room when I walked in.
“Are you Dr. Drummond?”
“Yes, I am. Are you Ellie?”
I just nodded.
“Well Frankie here will be all right. He will just need time to heal.”
“If I may ask, what needs to heal?”
“He has a few broken ribs, a concussion, bruised knuckles, bruised stomach area, and just random bumps and bruises. They got him pretty good.”
“Oh all right. When do you think he will be able to leave?”
“In the next day or two. Depends on how he is feeling. Now I will be back to check on you later.”
I just nodded and pulled a chair next to his bed. I watched him sleep. He looked like he was in pain but peaceful at the same time. I must have been staring off into space because a croaking voice brought me out of it.
“Ellie? Is that you?”
