Frankie POV

I simply could not believe it. I could not. It was like her to try and pull something like this but this was something that I could not simply blow off.

Dear Frankie,

I know it has been a while since we talked but I have something I need to tell you. I recently went into the doctor’s office to get looked at because I had not been feeling well. They ran all kinds of tests, including a blood test. When the results came back, it turned out the reason I was so sick is because I am HIV positive. They are unsure of how long I have had it but they told me to inform everyone I had been with. Therefore, the point of this letter to inform you should be immediately tested. I am so very sorry for this. I hope that one day you can forgive me.

Sincerely,

Kensie Michels

I was going to get tested and there was nothing to that but how was I going to tell Ellie. She would be mad but hopefully understanding. I knew that I was most likely negative but I would take the test anyway, to get confirmation.

“Umm, Ellie, can I talk to you?”

“Sure, what about?”

“The letter I got in the mail today.”

“Oh, all right.”

I decided that it would be better for her to read the letter then ask any questions she had. I handed her the letter once she sat down and I could see her eyes widen with every sentence. She looked up at me when she was done and I could see the disbelief in her eyes.

“You’re going to get tested right?”

I nodded, to afraid to say anything.

“Do you think I should get tested too?”

That actually took me by surprise. I hadn’t thought about it. I mean it wouldn’t hurt for her too. I wouldn’t push it upon her too, it would be her choice.

“Well, if you want to. I am not going to push you. If you want to then I will support you. We can do this together. “

I could tell she was thinking it over. I could also tell she was full of questions.

“How long were you with her? Do you think you are positive? What are you going to do if you are?”

“I was only with her for a couple months. No, I don’t think I am positive. If I am, I will decide what to do when it comes to that.”

“Well, I want to get tested too, just to be sure.”

I nodded. I figured that it what she would do but I was going to wait for her to tell me. She set the letter on the table and went into the kitchen to make dinner.

Ellie POV

I couldn’t believe that someone would send a letter telling personal information like that. That was certainly something I wasn’t expecting but it is just another bump in the road. Although I felt that I needed time to process this information.

Forty five minutes later dinner was ready and I had a lot of time to think everything over. I had decided to get this over with and move on. I just hope Frankie felt the same.

“Frankie, dinner is ready.”

He came into the kitchen and grabbed the plate full of food I handed him. I could tell he was concerned about how the letter affected me but he didn’t need to worry.

“Well, as you know I have had some time to think about everything that deals with the letter.”

He just nodded.

“I think that we should both get tested and deal with the results as they come. If they are negative, then we move on. If they are positive, then we figure out our options and go from there.”

He thought about it for a moment before he chose to speak.

“I agree. Although I don’t think we should tell anyone until we have the results. I researched some information while dinner was cooking and it can take up to six months to get the test results.”

Six months, I really didn’t want to wait that long but there was nothing I could if it took that long.

“Well let’s hope it doesn’t take that long but if it does then we will just have to wait.”

“I am glad that I have you. You’re such a great support system. I love you.”

“As long as we support one another, then we can get through anything. I love you too.”
