A knock on the door pulled me away from the mirror. I was preparing myself for a long days work. Although I could see I was going to get cranky later in the day. Frankie and I stayed up late talking about the whole arranged marriage ordeal.
*flashback: the night before*
We got to our room and got ready one by one to hit the hay. I was staring out the window.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Oh the whole ordeal of us being engaged and living together.”
“Well what is your opinion on it?”
“Well at first I didn’t like the idea of being in an arranged marriage to someone I would probably hate. At first it was true but now some things are different. I don’t know I am still kind of iffy. It may take a while for me to get used to the whole idea.”
“What do you mean different?”
Oh I really don’t know how to explain it right now, I will tell you later.”
“Oh okay. Well I do agree with you but you do have to agree that we aren’t strangers.”
“Yes that is true. Oh what size is your bed?”
“Umm a king I believe why?”
“My bed is a full so we will sleep on yours.”
He nodded and we slowly drifted to sleep.
*end flashback*
A second knock brought me out of my thoughts. I answered the door and our parents were standing there.
“You kids ready?”
We nodded and grabbed our stuff.
“Oh we forgot to mention, we bought your couches and all that a few days ago so they will be there when we arrive.”
“Okay whose stuff are we grabbing first?”
“Oh it is all packed all ready. We got a little excited this morning,” my mother said.
I just nodded. That completely sounded like my mother.
The rest of the day was spent admiring the apartment, climbing up and down stairs, arranging and rearranging. Oh and I must not forget grocery shopping.
By the time nine rolled around, our parents left and left us with our apartment. I was so tired that I didn’t even change to sleep. My head hit the pillow and I was out like a log.
