Recap:
“Mr. Johnsen…you are…not the father.”
Frankie POV
I blew out a sigh of relief. I knew Felicia’s son was not mine. One, because we only had once maybe twice and two I always wore a condoms. I looked over at Ellie; I could see she was excited but trying to hold it in.
“Well Felicia, I guess we will see you around.”
I grabbed Ellie’s hand and walked out the door. I decided to wait to talk to her until we were in the car.
“Are you happy with the test results?” I asked.
She just nodded her head. She kind of looked like she had other things on her mind.
“Babe, what’s going on? You’re awfully quiet.”
“Oh I’m just still in shock about the whole baby ordeal and our parents want to meet for dinner tonight.”
“But I thought we talked through this last night? What? Why do they want to do it tonight?”
“Well we did but oh I don’t know. They want to discuss the wedding of course.”
I just nodded. I had homework that needed to be complete.
7 pm-
Ellie and I were on our way to meet our parents at some restaurant. I really didn’t want to discuss the wedding but whatever it needs to happen.
“Oh I guess we should set a date before he head in so it looks like we have at least been talking about it.”
“Oh yes you are right. Umm how about August sometime?”
I liked the sound of August. Maybe we could have a wedding on the beach or something like that. Hmm maybe I will mention it to my parents.
We headed into the restaurant and I could see our parents talking, most likely about the wedding. That seems to be the only thing on their minds these days.
“Hello children. We are glad to see you could make it.”
“Hello,” we said in unison.
“Please sit. We have a lot to talk about.”
“Have you chosen at date for the wedding?” my mother asked.
“Oh yes Patty we have, we were thinking sometime in August. Maybe August 18th?” Ellie said looking at me
I just nodded my head in agreement. I knew that Ellie and I needed to discuss our wedding in a more private place, like our house then we could get together with our parents.
“Well mom, I don’t think we should discuss the wedding anymore until Ellie and I have discussed it further. We have been so busy with school that we haven’t even gotten around to the whole wedding planning thing yet. So how about we meet sometime next week and discuss everything then.
Our parents just looked at us strangely and then just nodded. They knew that they had to give us some leeway because they did force this marriage upon us.
Dinner was just small talk the rest of the night until it was finally over. Once in the car, I brought up the subject of the wedding.
“You know we are going to have to talk about the wedding eventually. Our mothers are going to harp forever until we give them something to go on.”
“Yes, I know. I will do some wedding research and then we can make our choices. But right now I am ready to crash.”
I just nodded and slowly drove the rest of the way home, thinking about marrying this wonderful girl beside me.
