_____________

Estelle Adler Camelli

"Camelli." I heard a voice near my ear, low and patient.

I snuggled closer and let out a sound of denial. I didn't want to wake up.

"Camelli, wake up." He repeated while rubbing my back.

Whispering curses under my breath, I slowly opened my eyes and tried to adjust to the light of the room.

It was becoming a habit of mine falling asleep beside him and having no nightmares. As if he was my savior, even if I deserved none.

"Camelli, wake up." He repeated. Then took a breath as if getting prepared. "We have to go and meet your sister. Nikolai found her." He slowly said, carefully picking the words so it wouldn't hit me in the gut. As if he was fearing my reaction. Or maybe the future, since she was the only thing keeping me from killing him.

My heart stopped. My sister? Where was she? Was she hurt? Did she look the same? How did she feel when she didn't see my face in any one of the people trying to get her out of whatever pit hole she was thrown into. Did she feel anger?

I did not deserve to sleep right now. Stay in this man's arms comfortably.

Escape my nightmares.

Trying to get up, Pierce helped me by placing his palm behind my back so my stomach wouldn't hurt a lot. I was trying to hold my emotions in, but everything felt bland, as if nothing was here, as if I wasn't there myself.

Only the rapid rhythms of my heartbeat inside my flesh was apparent to me. I was lost, as a child  searching for their parents in the big crowd.

Pierce placed a kiss in my forehead.

"You sure you want to go there?"

I couldn't ask where. My mind was spinning. What was her state like? Was she still my sister?

I just nodded.

I was given the role to rescue Stella. Fuck.

I considered myself a cold man. One who had blocked emotion long ago. Yet, the thought of seeing her again made my blood boil. Slowly. As if the blood itself was under a heater, and the molecules were slowly moving into my blood flow.

But I believed my emotions could be also tied to the fact that she would be harmed. I tried to brush that thought off my head.

The first time I saw her was in a strip club as the dancer. I never was one of the men that liked to stare, since I usually went for business. But her?
I was enchanted by her beauty.
Red lips. Long, silky brown hair. And those rich blue eyes that shined under the dark. She seemed soft, yet dark like a black swan.

Since that day, that nightclub became my favorite. So much, that I ended up buying the entire place. So she worked for me. So she was forced to meet with me once in a while.
