His face was sculpted by the Gods. There was no explanation about the serenity of his expression, or the perfectly harmonious features that he held on his face. But nothing compared to his appearance now. Each rough edge softening under the light of the morning.

It was maddening. Maddening how his presence alone made my heartbeat quicken. Maddening how I wished nothing more than his blood to be spilled, yet when I saw it, I couldn't bear it.

I smiled. Even though I woke every two hours to give him the pill, he fell asleep right again, and kept me in the same position, right again.

His arm was still hooked around me, resting his palm over my own wound which was softly healing. my head was still using his bicep as a pillow, and the soft light blanket kept us tucked in further away from the world.

My right arm was right over his heart, and I softly gathered the material of his shirt into my palm. Then, slowly, I stared at his face.

Serene.

I closed my eyes as if to escape these all consuming feelings.

I never was one who considered myself emotional. I was never one who bore my heart on the podium for everyone to fight over. I would grasp it right there, not giving anyone the chance to win it over.

Against my will, I opened my eyes once again. A smile pulled at my face. I tilted my head a bit more to have a clearer look of his features.

I had one more hour to wake him once again. Every time he woke up, he told me he could stay awake with me. And every time I went and caressed his cheek, he pressed a kiss inside the palm of my hand once or twice, and then after a while, due to being tired from the blood loss, he fell victim to sleep.

While watching him, my phone rang beside the nightstand. Groaning to myself, I carefully twisted my right arm which was over his chest to stretch and get my phone from the nightstand beside me.

Without looking at the caller so it didn't ring anymore, I responded. It was my personal phone so it had to be someone I knew.

"Yes?" I whispered into my phone.

"Estelle?" Arine responded confused. "Why are we whispering?"

"Long story, but Alonzo is sleeping." I whispered again.

"Ah I see–" She was about to start a new sentence "Wait! Why are you in bed with Alonzo?!"

"Long story. I will text you later. Did you want anything? I can listen." I whispered more quietly after I heard him take a heavier breath.

"Yes! I'm here with Adrian! Remember him?" Her voice was teasing. Oh God, he used to be my high school crush. "I met him at the bar outside Blue's and wanted to ask if you could join us, but you are clearly occupied with other... things."

I laughed softly.

"Tell Adrian I'm sorry I can't be there." I molded my voice to sound as sympathetic as possible.

"Who's Adrian?" I heard Alonzo's sleepy voice and for a moment my heart jumped out of my chest at the sound of it.

"Seems you won't need to be whispering anymore! Bye, bye Estelle!" Not waiting for my answer, she closed the call.

Leaving me with my phone in hand, I turned a little bit to place my phone on the nightstand. Going back into my previous position, he asked once again.
