Born to die~ Lana Del Rey __________ "Love is the most powerful emotion one can embody." __________
1 year and 6 months after...
"Don't you think he deserves more than this?" I stared at the masterpiece Alonzo and I had created.
One of our workers was spying on us and selling our information to the Colombian mafia which Diego was still the head of. Despite the mutual respect we had for each other, he and my husband were not on good terms. It seemed like the hit he had ordered on Alonzo's head, which failed, was still a bitter topic between the two.
"You may be right." He responded coldly, and with the hammer, he smashed an other one of his fingers.
The scream echoed around the room three times, so I made my way to put a gag on his mouth to shut him up.
Walking back, I tilted my head right.
I admired our work. His eyes were tightly shut, swollen and purple. The right arm was disconnected from his shoulder, and the left was standing at an odd position. The fingers of his left arm were smashed, but we took mercy on his right.
Blood was spilling nonstop from his stomach, and soon he would die from blood loss.
"You know, if you had been a nice little worker, you wouldn't be in this situation." I said keeping my Clandestine voice.
"And if I recall, you just got a raise. Such a shame." Alonzo added.
He was giving up. His sobs were dimmed, his screams blocked, his blood still running red.
Evaluating his wounds, he had at least 10 minutes left before his body started shutting down.
Cleaning my hands in the nearby sink of the cell, I headed to where Alonzo was staying in front of him.
"I think I should leave or our staff might get suspicious as to why your wife is staying so long watching people get tortured."
He slowly turned to face me, and God I would never tire of seeing his face gain emotion the moment his eyes fell on mine.
"Let them talk like they already do. They would never guess you're Clandestine." He shrugged and looked at the clock on his wrist. Then looked at my clothing up and down.
I was wearing a silky black dress with a red scarf around my neck. I had my wedding ring on, and bracelets to match with it. My hair was up in a messy bun, and my hoops were large enough to catch attention. My makeup was as always, a dark red lipstick, and a simple eye look.
"Okay, you are dressed. Let's go." He turned to leave and I raised an eyebrow.
"Leave? Go where?" I questioned as I followed him, my heels echoing in the long corridor.
"I have a date planned only for the two of us. Come." He said as he turned to look at me, and winked.
I laughed and when I was beside him, intertwined my hand with his. His thumb softly ran circles on my hand, and didn't release my hand until we reached the car, in which he opened my passenger door.
"Where are we going?" I asked curiously.
"You will see." He responded and I tried thinking of every restaurant in town. But he was starting to get creative.
Last week, we went to a pottery class. The week before, we went ice skating. That day? I had ran out of guesses.
When the car finally came to a halt, I tried to look everywhere for hints, but since the sun was starting to set down I couldn't see very well.
"Don't bother, you would never guess." He stated confidently.
"Don't flatter yourself." I shoved him with my shoulder, but he didn't budge.
Getting out of the car and following him, I didn't realize where we were until we entered the room.
"No you fucking didn't." I said offended.
"Oh, I did. Come, this will be fun." He laughed as he entered the room deeper.
"I am not taking a cooking class!" I protested but followed him into the massive kitchen where the chef was waiting for us.
"Yes we are. But this time be careful not to set anything on fire." He tried a failed attempt at joking, and I joined him on the spot beside him in front of the big white marbled kitchen and hospital-like lights.
"That happened one time, you psycho." I turned to look at him, my anger rising. "I hate you." I said with my chest full, ignoring as the cook was giving us our first instructions on how to use the equipment.
"No, you don't." He responded while starting to mix lemon, avocado and sweet chili to create some kind of sauce.
"No, I don't." I muttered as I got a plate and tried following his lead. "I despise you."
He let out a genuine laugh, and I immediately turned to look at it. It had become my favorite view, and I had taken it upon myself to never fail to see it when it happens.
"You love me." He said cheesing.
I smiled.
"Yes, I do love you." I smiled, and I was so glad I had him.
He turned to look at me, and the smile he gave me only made me think how lucky I was to be his, and he mine.
