Yukine POV
"Who are you?"
"Huh?" I blinked when I looked closely at Hiyori, wondering as if I'm talking to a stranger,
I laughed a little, "Oh come on Hiyori, don't joke around really."
"Hiyori?" I stopped laughing. My time suddenly stopped when she first said her name. It almost made me gulp.
"Hiyori, what's wrong?"
Her face lifts up with a small smile, "I'm sorry but I think you are mistakening me to another person." She said. Hiyori doesn't remember me? Sure I haven't seen her for a month but how could she have not remember us anymore?
'What is going on?!'
"Hiyori..." I stated, almost a whisper, "...do you not remember me?" I tried to reach out my voice to her, for some reason, it felt as if it was cut like a thread snapped into two.
"Maybe you thought it was someone who has the same name as I do." She stood there like an innocent girl, calmly replying to a stranger.
I don't understand...
I was about to say something but decide against it. I don't wanna scare her...for now.
"Are you sure you don't remember?" , I slowly repeat the question.
She slightly shook her head, "Although," I jolted my head, "You do seem familiar, it's just that I don't have the slightest idea of who you are."
She paused before she continue, "My memory became a blank as I woke up. But there were some dreams appearing blurry when I was asleep."
"Is that so," my voice sounded a little disappointed. I was a bit confused but somehow the weighing on my chest was slightly relieved.
"Anyways I really have to go." She formed a sad smile. "See ya." And with a wave, she took off leaving me worried about her condition.
If she going to be okay?
I head back as well, thinking of what is going to happen. I stopped walking for a moment and look at the sky, watching the clouds passing by. I wonder what happened to you? When I felt something dripping on my cheek, I quickly wiped it off on my left eye.
---
"Yukki!"
Kofuku's voice chirped as she heard me come in, "Hey, what took you so long?"
"It's nothing," I told her, unable to meet her gaze.
"Has he come home yet?"
"No he hasn't." That's strange of him.
"What is it Yuki?" She asked as if she read my mind. I looked up at her worried expression. I shook my head in response. After I told her that I'll be heading upstairs, I took off my jacket and stared blankly at the night sky.
I wonder what made Hiyori change? Was it because of Yato... If it was, then I would've known better but the way she looked at me, she looks as if she was...lost all of a sudden.
A strong wind blew across my face. As I looked down, I noticed a dark figure behind the post. Scrunching my eyes thinking it was an illusion, it was still there.
Who is that? Having second thoughts, my fingertips started to shiver to my skin, giving me the cold feet. I silently gulped, sensing eyes staring at me coldly. My heart speeds up so fast that I feel as if I knew this person but this figure somehow captured my attention.
This presence...
I was about to open my mouth but my thoughts were interrupted when I heard footsteps coming in. When I blinked, the figure disappeared in a blink of an eye.
"Yukine, dinner is ready." The tall, broaded man has emerged in the room. I calmed down a bit before I turned away from the window. My voice felt shaky before I spoke, "Daikoku." I slightly calmed down when he appeared.
"I've been trying to call you few minutes ago," he told me making me recalled that. But my thoughts were absorbed when that showed up. "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, I was--sleeping-yeah I was asleep. Don't worry." I let out a laugh, trying to keep my cool in front of him, for him to not worry.
"But you just got here." He said plainly. I blushed in embarrassment, "I got lost."
He stared at me for awhile, giving me this uncomfortable feeling.
"Daikoku, Yuki, dinner's ready! Come on, let's eat already." The pink-haired girl called out once more.
"Best not keep her waiting." Daikoku head down first as I follow him from behind. As I was about to take a step down, a voice hauled me;
"Yukine-kun"
My eyes widened. I stopped walking for a second. My heart began to speed up once more. There is this feeling again but this time, it is different.
This made me forget that I'm in a different world now; the whole world stopped as time froze and so does everything around me. I didn't move. My feet were glued to the floor. Sweat started to slid down from my hair up to my neck. I slowly turned around to confront the one behind the shadows; the one that emerged from the shady window,
"No way..."
