Yukine stood up as he cracked a smile, "So you want to do something..? Like hanging out in a mall?" He suggested. I smiled in return as I hopped off my seat and started walking beside him.
I got nothing else to ask him but instead of random things, something popped on my head, "So Yukine-kun, what kind of man is Yato like...?" I asked without thinking. Yukine slowed down his walking as he parted his lips, "Yato..is not like the others. He's pretty much of a slacker, not taking jobs seriously. Always being bossy and wants to get what his wants. A player and doesn't have any money. Plus he doesn't have a shrine.." He glared himself, "...that no good bastard always make things so difficult even I couldn't understand him. What a low-life..!" He said with sarcasm.
I listened. I just stood quietly, sweatdropping at his words. 'Is he really like that..?'
Yukine huffed, "But.." I looked up. We stopped at the entrance of the mall, as people passed by. "...Yato is actually a good guy. Yeah sure he may be annoying, too self-centered and irritating but he really does want to help people out. He may be lonely sometimes but he's really strong especially when it comes to his friends, he'll do anything to save them. Even if it costs his life.."
Lonely..
He stopped walking. I gaped at him from behind, "So that's how he is, huh.." I pondered a bit.
He was so lonely and yet strong..
"I don't where he is right now. But we'll find him soon don't worry." He said while turning around, giving his best smile. "How long was he..." "A month already..."
"A month?! Why..?" "...ever since you left." He mumbled. My eyes widened when I caught his words and it almost stung me. I tried not to show it for him to not worry.
He was gone for a month because of me..?
I felt a liquid rolled down on my cheek. His eyes blinked when he saw a tear on my face. I noticed his expression, and I quickly wiped it with my sleeve. "I'm sorry..I know I shouldn't be like this...I'm sorry." "Hiyori..."
I put on a smile, "I'm alright, don't worry about me."
Am I really okay?
Yukine stared at me for a second, examining my expression. I figured that he knows that I'm not okay. He can actually tell even though I'm encouraging myself to hide it.
Minutes have passed. Yukine decided to change the topic, "Well let's go eat then, shall we?" , he said.
"Mm." I nodded as I walked beside him. We rode on an escalator as Yukine kept on babbling that he's hungry already. I giggled at his response. Somewhere before we head to the top, a strange man with dark purple hair, walking past me. I stopped for a second and glanced at him. I didn't get to look at his face but when his back was turned, he was wearing a old white scarf that had been tied perfectly into a knot behind his neck, and a ragged black jacket. His scent suddenly caught my attention.
Could it be...
"Hiyori..!" I snapped through my thoughts as I saw Yukine who was already at the top. I came back to my senses as I almost fell on the last step of the escalator. Luckily, I held the handle before that happened. Yukine kept on whining like a little kid, "C'mon Hiyori, I'm starving already!" "Okay okay..." He caught my arm, dragging me to the food court.
-Time skip-
Yukine exhaled, "Hoohh yeah, that hits the spot. Thanks Hiyori." "No problem."
He reached his hand out for his water. I glanced at the ice rink, that is in front of the corner near the video games, watching the people ice skating happily. Yukine noticed as he followed my gaze.
"You want to--" I looked at him. Now it's my turn to take his hand, "H..i.y..ori.." "Ikemashou." I smiled at him which he returned it. I paid for the tickets as we put on some snow clothes and also ice skates. As we head inside, Yukine still there in the entrance, "What's wrong Yukine-kun?" "Well I.." He lowered his head, looking at the ground.
I ran towards him. He fidgeted his two index fingers. I noticed his weird behavior. And so that gave me an idea. I caught his hands which he was unexpectedly surprised by my action. "C'mon."
"Hiyori, you know I can--" "You helped me and I'll do the same. It's the least I could do to return the favor."
I want to know...
"Uuuahh H-Hiyori..!" His feet was off balanced so I held onto his arms so he can get it right. "You can do it." "I'm gonna fall--"
"I'll catch you."
He looked at me. I giggled at him, blushing. 'Aww Yukine's so cute when he blushed.' I thought, laughing. It took us a few hours for him to get it right. I was happy because he already got it even though he kept on tumbling over. "Ehehe, sorry Hiyori." I shook my head, "You just keep on practicing. You're getting good." I grinned while he was scratching his head, kinda embarrassed.
"I'mma go to the bathroom for a moment.." "Okay." He walked out. While waiting for him, I skate a little more. This was really fun. I kept on gliding, feeling the cold underneath my skin. It felt nice.
"I never had this much fun for awhile now."
"Indeed, you haven't.." I almost lost balanced but it was too late. I closed my eyes, ready for the impact but it never came. I hesitated in opening of my eyes as I felt a pair of arms enclosing me from behind.
"You alright Hiyori-chan..?" That voice made my body tingled as my heart thumped loudly on my chest. I looked up to see who it was. My eyes widened as heat rose madly on my cheeks.
Silence remained.
"F-Fujisaki-senpai?!"
