I'm serious about being in love with you.
So I'll stop joking around.
...Even if, by chance, you hate me--
Hiyori sat in the balcony as she gazed at the sea only to hear the waves crashing. Yato found her as he followed her footsteps. He hid behind a tree just for her not to see him.
There she stood, letting the wind stroked her hair gently. She played with the sand using her feet, thinking. The night was so quiet that you could only hear the wind gushing in and the waves rushing loudly. There wasn't a bench nearby so she just stood quietly.
Yato, on the other hand, watches her from afar. He began to hesitate if he should apologize for overreacting or just go straight. He felt guilty of what he did, not listening to her reasons.
'I guess maybe I am a little jealous.' Realized of what he had just said, he shook it off. 'Gahh, dammit. Don't even think about it Yato. Hiyori is just your friend. You're just only there to protect her not to love her.' It stung him a bit when he mentioned the 'love' part.
Do I really have feelings for her?
He started listening to his own words at his heart, wondering confusingly if what his trying to say will happen.
'Course it won't.'
'I'm a God and she's a human. It's never going to happen.' He whacked himself on the head. Stupid hormones.
His thoughts stopped when he heard sniffing. He turned back to Hiyori as she raised her hand to wiped her sobbing. He couldn't take it. 'I screwed up..'
Without thinking, I came out of my hiding place and walked towards her. She didn't flinched, probably because of the waves. I walked behind her but stopped for a second,
'What am I going to say to her?'
...
...
...
...
...
Silence.
He took this courage as he breathe in, "Hiyori." He spoke quietly. She startled, as she stopped playing the sand with her feet.
He tried to wait if she's gonna answer back but continued, "Listen, I'm really sorry that I overreacted okay? I didn't mean to hurt you. Really. I didn't expect that would happen." He apologized, lowering his voice. "If you want to go to your prom, then I'll let you go then. I'm just worried about you that's why I got a bit upset..."
It took awhile for him to notice that she wasn't responding nor moved on her spot, "Hiyo-" his mid-sentence was cut off when something slapped his cheek. Hard. He looked up to see it was Hiyori. She was crying. Her eyes were red and tears were flowing uncontrollably on her face. "You idiot.."
He gasped at her response. He was expecting more on an angry statement but she tries to calmly said that instead. Her voice sounded dry because of her crying. "You really are an idiot. Nothing but a jerk." She glares at him as she looks at the ground. Yato didn't react to her reflex since he figured she might do that.
"I'm really so-" "Could you..please.." she gripped her foot, "..stop apologizing for just one second." I stopped talking, waiting patiently on what she's about to say next.
"Why it has to be you?!", Yato froze, surprised at her words. "One moment you're sexually harassing me, and then gone the next... Just what are you thinking? Why is it my heart beating so fast? Why do I feel lonely when you leave me? Why are you..." She paused, averting her gaze.
