"Mmm... about that... we need to talk!"
Rawee didn't understand what her daughter meant by "about that... we need to talk!" But before she could say anything, Freen gently took her girlfriend's hand and stepped forward:
"Mom Rawee... all I want most in this life is to marry Becky! Even though we're both still young, I can tell you with a 100% sure that we're completely certain that we belong together! I'm completely certain that she's the woman of my life, and that she's the one I want to spend the rest of my life and the rest of my days with! All I want is to collect moments by her side - from the quiet conversations before falling asleep to the stolen kisses in the middle of the day. I want to build a story where love is always the answer, where faith makes us stronger, and where every single day gives us more reasons to be grateful for having each other! I swear mom, it has never crossed my mind to diminish the woman I love, because I respect Becky - and all of you - more than anything! But unfortunately, we still live in a country where prejudice is very real... and we're only at the beginning of our careers..."
Freen paused, her grip on Becky's hand tightening slightly, as if drowing strength from her. So the thai girl continued:
"I know this might sound impulsive or even reckless. But what I feel for her isn't fleeting. It's not confusion. It's not rebellion. It's LOVE - the kind of love that grows, that endures, that chooses the same person every single day, even when things are hard!" The hazel-eyed girl looked directly to Rawee, her voice soft, but unwavering.
The older woman kept silent, just listening to the girl in front of her.
"I'm not here to take Becky away from you. I would never do something like that! I want to be someone who adds to her life, not someone who creates distance between her and her family. I want to stand beside her, to support her dreams, celebrate her victories and hold her through her struggles. And I want to do the same for all of you, if you'll allow me."
Richie senior crossed his arms, still visibly tense, while Richie Jr exchanged a glance with their mother. The room was heavy with emotion, but Freen continued determined:
"But... as much as I dream about marrying her, I also know that now isn't the right time."
Becky turned to look at her, surprised, but Freen gave her a reassuring smile before continuing:
"Not because I doubt us. Never that! But because when that day comes... it shouldn't be something hidden. It shouldn't feel like we're doing something wrong, like we have to lower our voices or look over our shoulders! Our love isn't a mistake, isn't something to be ashamed of!" Her voice grew stronger, filled with quiet conviction. "When I marry Becky, I want it to be the light. I want it to be a moment of pride! I want us to be able to stand in front of the world - before our families, our friends - and say without fear that we belong to each other. That we love each other endlessly! I want to celebrate her, not hide her!"
Sarocha swallowed. Emotion catching in her throat for a brief second.
"And for that... we need time. Time to grow, to build our careers, to become strong enough - not just as individuals, but as a couple - to face everything that may come our way. Because I know it won't be easy. But she's worth every challenge!!!"
At this moment, Freen looked at Becky, her eyes softening completely.
"She's worth everything!" The thai girl said emotional.
Becky's eyes filled with tears, her fingers intertwining with Sarocha's even tighter.
"I'm not asking for your permission to love her." Freen added gently, turning back to the family. "Because that... has already happened!! 🥰🥰 But I'm asking for your understanding, your patience and maybe... one day, for your blessing."
