Millie hissed in pain as her husband poured rubbing alcohol over her thigh. Her fangs dug into the rolled-up washcloth in her mouth. But soon the pain was over, and Moxxie was rubbing her arm comfortingly as he unrolled the bandages.

"Doing great, sweetie." He told her with his head down.

After their fight with the Cherubs, Lunar had walked home, but Millie couldn't walk properly because she was in pain from Keenie stabbing her in the thigh, so she and Moxxie rode a taxi back to their place. Now they were in their bathroom, Millie perched on the counter with one leg stretched out, jaw tight, one hand braced behind her. Her hair was a mess, her overalls torn at the shoulder, and there was a smear of golden angel blood on her cheek that had dried dark.

She looked furious, which was her usual expression whenever she was hurt and pretending she wasn't.

He leaned closer, concentrating, fingers careful as he secured the gauze around her thigh. Up close, she could see the scratch along his temple, the split knuckles, the minor bruise below his collarbone. None of his wounds were as severe as hers, but her brows still furrowed in concern.

"You're the one who looks worse for wear, Mox."

"Only because I'm saving all the good injuries for dramatic effect."

That got a real smile out of her, quick and crooked and gone almost immediately when the bandage poked against her wound. Moxxie mumbled an apology before he finished wrapping it, then pulled a safety pin from the medical kit to pin the gauze in place.

"That angel-faced sheep better hope I never see her again." Moxxie frowned. "I'll beat the shit out of her for doing this to you."

"Don't worry, hon, I've had waaaaay worse than this." Millie reassured. "But... I don't doubt that you'll beat her senseless if you run into her again. You did a great job of it earlier. Also your "Welcome to Hell, bitch!" one-liner got me swooning so hard I almost lost focus in the middle of the fight."

"So did your one-liner about how Keenie can play as you but she'll never be anywhere close." Moxxie smirked. "She wishes she could be like us. All those tablescraps from Heaven do. But not even their stupid little Avenger suits can boost them high enough."

Moxxie took the washcloth Millie had been biting into and put it away. Then he took another washcloth and poured water on it from the faucet, using it to dab the blood off his wife's face. When she was decently clean, he picked her up and carried her out of the bathroom.

"Whoa! Mox, I can walk by myself." Millie assured when she saw how he was clearly straining to hold her weight.

"It's okay, it's okay!" He insisted, flashing a grin. "Just... helping my battle-wounded wife get to bed."

Miraculously he made it down the hallway and into the bedroom without dropping Millie flat on her face. He let her sit on the bed, undressing her and putting pyjamas on her, then doing the same to himself. They crawled under the covers together and kissed goodnight. Normally they'd do a lot more than kissing once they got in bed together, but they were both really exhausted, and Moxxie didn't want to aggravate Millie's stab wound any further.
